Sodexo is searching for a Senior Vice President-NorAm Operations- Hospitals. Role will be responsible for delivering operational excellence to our clients and drive profitability, cash flow and business goals and objectives.


The ideal candidate will reside between Charlotte NC and Washington DC- as the role will cover this geography within the East Region.


The position will place a major focus on strategic operational oversight, client relationship management, and business retention. This position will have oversight of approximately $423 million budget revenue. Successful candidate will have strong Operational excellence and the ability to inspire this quality within their teams.


The successful candidate(s) will drive operational excellence through lean, efficient, and effective practices to support the strategic objectives focusing on growth within the healthcare segment. In addition, this position will place a major focus on client relationship management, business retention, and new business development.


Responsibilities for this role:

  • Lead the segment team to deliver on our Quality-of-Life positioning and achieve a safe working environment that meets or exceeds economic and commercial performance targets
  • Work with Zone leadership to develop and implement the segment strategy within the segment and more widely in the region to deliver sustainable, profitable growth and value for Sodexo clients and our business while driving results through standardization of programs and accountability management
  • Manage and develop this region’s talent in collaboration with HR and segment leadership
  • Build all segment activity in this region in line with Group policies and standards
  • Leader of the Region’s Teams and business
  • Drives managerial behaviors at all levels through the Region’s segment to achieve consistent results

  • Functions as a change champion, prepares the Region culture to adapt and embrace ongoing, fundamental changes that will enable the business to grow and prosper.
  • Able to provide direction and region leadership regarding changing market conditions to constituents and build a long-range plan aligned with the market and group strategy while at the same time demonstrating agility to effectively adapt both long range and short-term plans.
  • Superior negotiation skills particularly in this changing market and economy.
  • Decision making- must be decisive and possess the ‘big picture” perspective enforcing accountability across the region while inspiring team members at the same time.
  • Knowledge of required regulations of accrediting agencies.
  • Optimize strategic partners and relationships to initiate appropriate strategies to enhance customer service and fiscal stability of the business relationship. Effectively partner with internal stakeholders (e.g., regions, functions, Health Care Market, NORAM, and Group) to drive successful, cross-functional outcomes.
  • Proven ability turning around business and achieving results
  • Spearhead the development, communication, and implementation of effective business strategies and processes.
  • Produce an annual business plan for the region that specifies annual objectives and budget
  • Provide the leadership, management, and oversight necessary to ensure that geographic area of responsibility has the proper solutions, products, metrics, and talent in place to effectively grow the organization and meet/exceed defined revenue and profitability targets and other KPIs.
  • Optimize strategic partners and relationships to initiate appropriate strategies to enhance customer service and fiscal stability of the business relationship. Effectively partner with internal stakeholders (e.g., regions, functions, Health Care Market, NORAM, and Group) to drive successful, cross-functional outcomes.
  • Builds relationships with all key strategic accounts providing value beyond service offerings. Advancing the relationships from a contract provider to valued partner thus creating barriers to exit.
  • Evaluate and advise the Region Zone President on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory actions.
  • Rigorous plans to continually enhance employee engagement throughout the segment. This includes a focus end to end with 100% participation by leadership
  • Implement and lead a continuous quality improvement process to include operational activities as well as systems improvements that will enable the region to be more efficient. Analyze current technology infrastructure and determine next level of operational systems that will support the region, as well as Health Care Market operational excellence
  • Ensure contracts meet the segment vision and growth goals.
  • Oversee all aspects of the region’s Human Resources Management. Ensuring the segment attracts, recruits, and retains the best talents, Ensure the most effective structures are in place to optimize and deliver segment goals.

Accountabilities for this role:

  • Performance on established Health, Safety and Environment, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Diversity and Inclusion metrics
  • Achieve or exceed market growth rate (new client acquisitions and retention, white-space coverage) outperforming competitors to achieve market leadership position
  • Financial performance targets for assigned Region and Segment in the country achieved (P&L, margins, cash)
  • Region and Segment performance on established people-metrics; Quality of Life progress for all segment employees: engagement, retention, development, and productivity
  • Region talent identified and developed; succession plans for all segment leadership positions established; succession candidates developed in line with plans in collaboration with Region and Segment HR
  • Region and Segment assets developed and deployed (e.g., definition of new offers, contribution to new services)

Qualifications & Requirements:
Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Basic Management Experience - 10 years
Basic Functional Experience - 10 years of multi-unit, support, or strategic leadership experience
