GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Canes Midstream is a private equity backed midstream oil and gas company with assets in the prolific Permian Basin. The Senior Process Engineer will be responsible for optimization activities related to natural gas processing and treating, including creating facility processing and economic models to realize efficiency gains and monetize performance improvements. The Senior Process Engineer will perform analysis and create projects to ensure processing plants are operating safely, efficiently, and within specifications. The Senior Process Engineer will endeavor to minimize capital outlay, minimize operational expenses, and maximize Canes profitability within the contractual boundaries provided by producer and takeaway contracts. This position is also responsible for complying with Environmental, Health, Safety, and Regulatory requirements and must continually strive to maintain the highest standards for excellence, leadership, and professionalism, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of Canes Midstream.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the design, installation, and commissioning of new natural gas processing equipment.
  • Create AFE estimates for small plant improvement projects and oversee their implementation.
  • Develop new process models and expand existing process models to support real-time facility optimization.
  • Provide guidance to local operations teams to improve plant performance.
  • Troubleshoot existing plant operations to determine root causes and solutions.
  • Visit field locations frequently to solicit operations input and identify processing improvements.
  • Work closely with plant process equipment suppliers to verify design calculations and rate equipment for actual operating conditions.
  • Work closely with EHS manager to supply necessary emissions related data.
  • Support PSM documentation and processes required by OSHA.
  • Aid in developing plant maintenance programs.
  • Maintain a system wide view of the Canes assets to optimize field gathering compression, residue take-away, and NGL take-away.

Perform any other related duties as requested or assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability(ies) required.

  • Sound understanding of natural gas cryogenic processing, molecular sieve dehydrating, amine treating, glycol dehydration, and compression
  • Experience with ProMax or highly similar process modeling software is desirable
  • Ability to prioritize, coordinate, delegate, and assign duties and responsibilities
  • Ability to exercise discretion and be able to handle confidential information
  • Highly proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Must be professional and demonstrate strong customer service/interpersonal skills necessary to interact with internal and external customers on a regular basis
  • Skill in both oral and written communications with various levels, including patrons, consultants, contractors, producers and Board members/executives
  • Approximately 25-35% of anticipated travel

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering or similar degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of midstream oil & gas experience
  • Significant experience with process modeling (Promax or similar software package)

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and maintain insurability with corporate insurance company.
