Senior Payroll Specialist


Using ADP platform, performs a wide variety of specialized multi-state and Canada record keeping and payroll processing activities, such as computing wage and overtime payments, calculating and recording payroll deductions, balancing and controlling earnings and deduction totals, auditing system output such as registers and standard reports. Process garnishments in accordance with orders within legal parameters. Determine and correct out-of-balance conditions, prepare and file tax reports. Partner with Finance to gather payroll data for inclusion in financial statements. Research and prepare special reports for management, finance, auditors, etc.. Although duties normally follow established procedures, the incumbent will be expected to identify problems and recommend and implement solutions. Mentor and develop less experienced payroll members. General accounting experience and CCP certification preferred.


Day to Day

  • Process pay for both the United States (bi-weekly), Canada (semi-monthly) and Ex-Pat Pay (monthly)
  • Processing includes data entry for new hires and retro pay and uploading benefit, 401(k) and special pay files
  • Audit Changes to be uploaded into ADP from HR System and pay
  • Upload Benefit, 401(k), Special Pay, Bonus and Commission Files
  • Audit Pay Entries Entered by Team Member
  • Review Transmission Reports before Pay is processed
  • Post Pay Download Payroll Files and prepare wires for approval
  • Run Ad Hoc Payroll Reports for Human Resources, Finance and Accounting
  • Review Garnishments- enter in ADP and send notification email to employee
  • Work with ADP when Company Tax Issues arise
  • Resolves employee’s questions and concerns including timesheet issues, deductions, tax changes, and pay
  • Run Address Change report Biweekly and send copy to Shared Services to update HR System
  • Process Year End Duties for both US and Canada
  • May perform other duties as required

Essentials

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 7 years of experience of processing multi-state payroll
  • General accounting experience preferred.
  • CCP certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations and payroll tax codes
  • Knowledge of processing pay in Canada.
  • Experience in ADP Payroll Systems (Workforce Now and Vantage)
  • Strong Excel Skills
  • Strong mathematical and numeracy skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to be flexible and shift priorities to meet departmental requirements
  • Ability to research and analyze various types of data information
