This position will have a dual role to ensure that United has capabilities and talent to execute United Next as well as be a Sr. Talent Development partner to our HR Teams. This role will partner with Human Resource Business Partners (HRBPs) to ensure an understanding of the capabilities required for future success, design solutions to meet business needs, and collaborate with Learning and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to provide the required development needed. Must create, manage and deliver solutions that are innovative, accessible to a diverse and virtual workforce by using existing materials & resources. All initiatives must be scalable for growth, globally relevant, and aligned to strategic objectives. This specific position on the Talent Development Team will be responsible for creating all hiring and development assessments for United Airlines.

  • Act as a Talent Development thought partner for Human Resource Managing Director's and offers solutions
  • Procure resources from global centers of expertise when needed
  • Partner with HR to drive consistency in the business unit talent agenda including talent review, talent conversations, goal planning and succession planning
  • Be the subject matter expert for assessments for United Airlines
  • Be responsible for leading a team to design, validate, and launch all assessments across the organization
  • Global ownership of one or more Talent Development Areas – defining philosophy, setting a 3-year strategy, creating global HR objectives, market intelligence, change management, communications, and tools
  • The key development areas are as follows: Talent Planning, Organizational Development, Training Needs Assessment, Talent Reviews and Succession, Organizational Design, Leadership Development, Career Mapping, Onboarding Effectiveness, Internal Talent Mobility, Coaching, Early Careers, Team Effectiveness, Listening Strategy, Employee Experience, Talent Assessment, Retention Strategies, Goal Alignment, Performance Management, Diversity and Inclusion Programs
  • Partner with HRBPs to identify and development of strategic capabilities for business unit HR teams
  • Create action, executive consensus, org design, and upskilling plans to support the acceleration of identified strategic capabilities
  • Partner with peer leads in the identification of talent opportunities, potential interventions, and then produce global solutions
  • Represent business/brand perspective in the global conversations
  • Works with HRMDs to gain agreement, and alignment around Talent Management area of Expertise and transformational work
  • Designs marketing and organizational change plans with a top-down approach to program cascade focused on key actions required to transform organization aligned to 3-year roadmap
  • Partners with HRBPs and Business Leadership to implement program management methodologies and measures to ensure value
  • Leadership and oversight on the creation and delivery of custom education, development and experiential interventions related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I)
  • Owns and drives the Talent and Development road map
  • Acts as a hands-on delivery resource leading the execution through HRBPs

Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Previous demonstrated ability to identify capability needs based on business strategy
  • Experience successfully designing talent strategies to close development and capability gaps
  • Ability to design hiring assessments that will identify top talent
  • Subject matter expertise in multiple key development areas
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels in the organization
  • Previous experience creating assessments that allow leaders to better understand the development needs of their teams
  • Proven success driving initiatives to completion while ensuring adoption
  • Leads with an “outside-in” mindset by keeping a pulse on external market and HR trends
  • Experience working as an HR Business Partner
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and deal with complex issues
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships develop and deliver fair and equitable solutions
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) with a strong employee advocacy orientation
  • Professional demeanor with excellent and timely follow-up with business partners
  • Must be self-motivated and have an enhance ability to prioritize/plan in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to use data to tell a story
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
Preferred
  • Master's degree
  • An MS/MBA in learning/education development, organization development, human resources, organizational behavior, applied behavioral science or a similar discipline
  • 9+ years of relevant experience
  • 5 to 7 years of progressive experience designing talent development strategies that have resulted in strong results
  • The ideal candidate will possess 5-10 years of experience successfully creating, validating, and launching hiring and development assessments for large corporations
  • CISSP, CISA or CISM
  • PHR, SHRM or related certification
