POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Interior Designer is responsible for development, implementation, and creation of project design concepts for all levels of interior design projects. This role provides design continuity and leadership through the entire project by developing the initial design concept and coordinating with other team members to further develop design concepts through schematic design, design development, and construction phases. Moreover, it is essential for the Senior Interior Designer to support IIG’s continuous learning environment by mentoring or sharing his or her knowledge with entry and mid-level designers. Team building and persuasive leadership are crucial elements within this role. This individual is expected to demonstrate professionalism and sound judgement.

RESPONSIBLITIES

DESIGN

· Sharpen finely tuned eye for color, texture, and pattern with knowledge of durability standards, installation, construction methods, etc.

· Select interior finishes and furnishings communicating with manufacturer representatives to research material selection costs and specification information to ensure appropriate selections are made for the project budget with minimal direction from Senior Project Manager(s) and Studio Director(s) and assistance of Level 1 & 2 Designers

· Hone technical knowledge for creating specifications and installation coordination of FF& E furnishings, decorative lighting, and other related interior design contract documents.

· Hone knowledge of hotel standards, fire codes and ADA accessibility requirements for interiors.

· Produce content and layouts for digital design presentations using InDesign and Photoshop with the assistance of the Level 1 & 2 designers. Prepare PDF plans, FF&E and concept imagery presentations and material palettes. Presentation will be reviewed by Senior Project Manager(s) and Studio Director(s)

· Create finish, plumbing and other schedules with minimal direction from Senior Project Manager(s) and Studio Director(s) with the assistance from Level 1 & 2 designers.

· Write FF&E & Finish Specifications using Spexx with minimal direction and oversight from Senior Project Manager(s) and Studio Director(s)

· Prepare front-end documents for Brand submittals, issues documents following brand process, and coordinates submittal responses as needed with minimal direction

· Manage and lead assigned projects from conceptual design through construction administration with minimal supervision for the design and FF&E related aspects of the project. Complete required deliverables with the assistance of team members.

· Participate in on-site field measures or site visits individually or with Senior Project Manager(s) and Studio Director(s) as needed

· Assemble interior finish boards and presentation materials using InDesign software

· Lead the assigned design team to develop the concept direction, research, and narrative development for projects.

· Review PO’s, RFI’s and shop drawings with minimal oversight from Senior Project Manager(s) and Studio Director(s)

· Ensure design conforms to contractual agreement with client and sub-consultants with minimal direction. Notify senior team management members when there is an item that is not conforming with your understanding of the scope or responsibility of IIG.

· Hone presentation skills. *May be asked to present entirely to client or conduct calls without the presence of the Senior Project Manager(s) and Studio Director(s)

· Provide adequate notes and download to team for next steps.

· Review/redline specifications for completion. Ensure continuity and consistency of design deliverables by reviewing and checking all work for design aesthetic, accuracy, and completeness.

· Lead charettes for concept and design development and FF&E selections.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

· Assist and maintain Project Tracker each week for the purposes of managing the design and FF&E deliverables for the project. NOTE: Technical deliverables and project timeline will fall under the Senior Project Manager(s)

· Effectively utilize time tracking software to meet target utilization rates, assist Senior Project Manager(s) and Studio Director(s) with managing of team to meet utilization goals.

· Possess proven understanding of project profitability

· Maintains day-to-day correspondence with internal and external sources.

· Model and lead a highly organized approach to the design process resulting in on time, on budget deliverables

· Manage communication of project team members, including meeting minutes, email documentation and transmittals.

· Creates project budgets in Spexx software program and Excel with minimal direction from Senior Project Manager(s) and Studio Director(s)

· Correspond and coordinate with consultants including lighting, operation, technical, and VE (Value engineering) process with minimal oversight. NOTE: Senior Project Manager(s) will be responsible for the technical oversight of the project.

· Understand, implement, and refine processes and tools to reduce risks and exposure to the firm.

· Serve as an effective, timely decision maker

· Ensure project needs are satisfied by effectively managing design staff to ensure efficient utilizations of resources with minimal oversight from Senior Project Manager(s) and Studio Director(s)

· Work directly with the Senior Project Manager(s) and Studio Director(s) to prepare and maintain project task assignments, ensure design deliverables are met, and reporting project status and team needs.

· Effectively and proactively coach, mentor, and provide performance enhancing feedback to team members.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION | LICENSING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design (required)
  • NCIDQ (preferred)
  • LEED-AP (desirable)
  • State License (Florida) (preferred)

COMPUTER PROGRAMS

  • Revit (full proficiency)
  • AutoCAD, (3-4 years’ experience, intermediate proficiency)
  • Adobe Creative Suite – PhotoShop & InDesign (full proficiency)
  • Google Sketch-up (full proficiency preferred)
  • Microsoft Office
  • Spexx (desirable)

HOSPITALITY | INTERIOR DESIGN

  • Minimum of 5 -10 years of hospitality design experience required
  • Sketching skills
  • Ability to research, prepare and present color and material concepts in a tasteful and unique format along with space plans, elevations, and details.
  • Expert knowledge of hotel standards, fire codes and ADA accessibility requirements for interiors.
  • Proven knowledge of contract hospitality sourcing and suppliers
  • Models a highly organized approach to the design process resulting in on time, Excellent presentation skills in small and large group setting and/or via virtual conference calls
  • on budget deliverables.
  • Expert technical knowledge for creating specifications and installation coordination of FF& E furnishings, decorative lighting, and other related interior design contract documents.
  • Proven experience working with national hospitality supplier sources.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT SKILLS

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while consistently achieving high standards and goals with minimal direction from Senior Project Manager(s) and Studio Director(s)

  • Experience in ensuring schedules, budgets, and interior construction documents for multiple interior design projects are on time and within budget
