Highwater Marine Senior Buyer

Godfrey Marine, a division of Polaris Industries, designs, engineers, manufactures, and markets a full offering of pontoon, deck, and sport boats. JOB OPPORTUNITY/DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Senior Buyer

LOCATION: Elkhart, IN

DEPARTMENT: Supply Chain

REPORTS TO: Jeff Cress

JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Buyer’s primary responsibilities in this role are to purchase goods, materials and services to ensure that company operational needs are met, taking into account, cost, quality and delivery while striving for continuity of supply. This role has greater responsibility and accountability than a Buyer and the ability to influence and mentor others is required. The Senior Buyer will take responsibility for larger projects and also hold a larger remit in terms of purchasing responsibility.

• Purchase and schedule production materials, for manufacturing facility
• Initiates purchase orders to suppliers
• Determines delivery schedule based off manufacturing requirements.
• Manage key suppliers for daily issues and/or adjustments when necessary
• Coordinates as appropriate, quality matters and engineering changes/developments between HWM and suppliers
• Coordinates the planning of recent schedules and inventory control parameters for the assigned materials
• Work to reduce direct inventory
• Work in conjunction with cross functional teams (i.e. Engineering, Materials, Quality, Finance, etc.)

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

• Bachelor's degree desired; certification in inventory management or purchasing a plus
• Three to five years procurement experience
• This position requires 3-5 years of experience with buyer/planning activities
• Experience and familiarity with inventory control, receiving, and shipping processes
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Strong analytical, negotiation & problem-solving skills
• Must be very familiar with MRP and other web-based release management tools
• Additional requirements include familiarity with personal computing software (i.e. MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)
• Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization also required

• Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in high stress situations
• Maintain a detail oriented workspace and possess multi-tasking abilities
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
• Ability to correctly add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
