Senior Business Analyst (SAS, SQL) (Senior Management Analyst) Hybrid

Quality Ops and Data Analytics

Our Data Quality and Stewardship group provides end-to-end data management support across Mount Sinai’s clinical institutes and clinical care service lines. Our scope encompasses clinical data registries, disease-based cohort databases, tracking P4P measures, CMS Star and USNWR hospital ranking analysis. We are currently seeking a Senior Business Analyst to lead ranking/quality improvement projects and to support the measure catalog which is a collection of all metrics and measures that are relevant to the above said projects.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Reconstruct risk models used for hospital rankings by external agencies and insurance companies and refit them to propose strategies for performance improvement
  • Create process and outcome measures based on CMS, USNWR, P4P and other quality measurement system definitions
  • Build pseudo measures using clinical data and other internal data sources to report and monitor the current state of the Health System
  • Responsible for the upkeep of the measure catalog; refreshing measures and updating measure definitions
  • Create/maintain complex SAS and SQL codes that feed and refresh the measure catalog and the underlying data and risk models
  • Work closely with the leadership team to gather requirements, design and build analytical data solutions
  • Provide statistical and data analysis support as needed
  • Support data hub integration work as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's (required) or Master’s (preferred) in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Public Health, Computer or Systems Engineering or related field that further developed your expertise in the business of health and healthcare.
  • Five (+) years of data analytics experience
  • Five (+) years of experience in writing complex SAS/SQL code to compute hospital quality measures
  • Solid understanding of Hospital quality measures including risk adjustment methodologies used in P4P, CMS star and USNWR Hospital rankings
  • Solid understanding of enterprise data warehouse, subject-matter data marts, and complex data models
  • Prior experience as a healthcare business analyst working in Quality Improvement or Quality Reporting Team
  • Familiar with design, structure and formats of major national databases used in healthcare analysis
  • General understanding of hospital claims datasets, healthcare departmental/clinical operations, workflow, policies, and procedures is a plus
  • Project management (agile, lean) skills a plus

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $96461 - $144692 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
