SECURITY SUPERVISOR JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION SUMMARY

The Security Supervisor is responsible for supervising a team of three-to-four security officers for one assigned shift (days, swings, or grave) of The Shade Tree (TST) security in accordance with state and local laws and standards set by TST administration and Board of Directors. The Security Supervisor provides support to security staff which includes scheduling and training. This position requires experience in physical security, supervising security personnel, and the operation of security related equipment and systems.

CORE JOB DUTIES (includes but not limited to):

• Supervises security officers and ensures TST policies are followed.
• Provides armed (firearm) security, responds to emergencies, and contacts emergency services when appropriate.
• Assigns work for security officers based on their fitness for specific assignments.
• Complies with applicable laws, regulations, and rules related to the operation of a shelter facility.
• Provides oversight, direction, and training to security officers.
• Conducts tasks to ensuring the safety and security of clients, employees, visitors, and property.
• Controls accesses to facilities, allowing entry to only those persons authorized.
• Writes various reports.
• Ensures TST remains compliant with relevant DOH rules.
• Operates surveillance video system.
• Cooperates with law enforcement and emergency services as required by law.
• Understands applicable shelter facility laws, regulations, and rules.
• Ensures the maintenance and durability of security-related equipment.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Prior law enforcement experience preferred. Prior probation/parole or correctional experience.
• Two or more years in a supervisory role preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED Required.
• Organizational and time management skills.
• Minimum of 21 years of age as required by State of Nevada statute.
• Pass background checks, including fingerprinting, per applicable requirements set forth under State of Nevada statute.
• Possess valid driver’s license.
• Be compliant with all legal and company regulations.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be legally able to possess a firearm.
• Must be physically able to wear a firearm throughout shift.
• Must be able to lift, carry, and balance up to 30 pounds (100 pounds with assistance). This job function may include walking or standing for extended periods of time, as well as stooping, bending over and/or crouching.
• Ability to interact positively with the public.
• Ability to conduct investigations.
• Ability to take inventory and keep records of property.
• Be able to read/write/speak English to communicate with clients, co-workers and management.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
