HOURS

40 hrs per week. Able to work Evenings and Weekends.

Under the direct supervision of the Program Coordinator, this position ensures a safe and secure environment for a group of 6 residents, in accordance with the Company’s Policy. The successful Security Guard will also adopt and blend the roles of resident assistant, mentor, and group leader, implementing consistent behavior, crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as needed.

Essential Functions:

• Provide a safe,secure environment for residence using trained techniques, and engaging with residence; recognizing residents for their efforts.
• Patrols residence and grounds of the home; examines doors, windows, and surrounding areas to determine that they are secure and safe for residents.
• Drive company vehicles, automatic transmission, for the purpose of transporting individuals to their doctor appointments and activities in the community.
• Supervise daily activities of residents, including skill development activities being implemented
• Document daily logs as required by company policy, briefing oncoming shifts on any events during the past shift.
• Assist with daily living resident activities, including preparing meals and assisting with personal hygiene
• Develop a rapport with residents and cultivate a safe and supportive relationship
• Update resident case notes on a daily basis
• Ensure an appropriate staff-to-client ratio at all times
• Participate in training and developmental activities as needed.
• Report incidents as described in company policy
• Perform all duties as assigned.

Other Skills:

• Ability to learn quickly and work with minimum supervision.
• Ability to read, speak, and write English well enough to carry out written and oral instructions regarding the proper performance of duties and write routine reports and correspondence.
• Basic computer skills

Physical Requirements:

• High school diploma/GED required
• Valid drivers license
• No previous criminal record
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
• Compassionate about the care and well-being of others
• Ability to pass a background check
• Frequently required to stand and walk for entire length of shift
• Ability to walk up and down stairs frequently
• Visual acuity sufficient to identify potential security violations
• Hearing ability sufficient to respond to the spoken voice and audible alarms
• Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 35 lbs
• Occasionally required to kneel/crouch when conducting investigations or inspections

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

• Human service: 1 year (Preferred)
• Security: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Driver's License (Preferred)
• Guard Card (Preferred)
