Position Summary

Azimuth Corporation is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our wide and ultra-wide bandgap semiconductor material development team at the Air Force Research Laboratory, Materials and Manufacturing Directorate, Electron Materials Branch, at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH. Specific experimental techniques may include, but are not limited to, Hall effect, quantum Hall effect, Shubnikov–de Haas, current-voltage, capacitance-voltage, admittance spectroscopy, and pulsed-laser based optoelectronic characterization techniques.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on the electronic and/or optoelectronic properties of semiconductor materials, including but, not limited to, gallium oxide and III-nitride based materials.
• Work in close collaboration with material growth and device fabrication experts to study the fundamental properties of carrier transport, doping, and defects in these materials toward the development of applications such as RF electronics, power electronics, high temperature electronics, and radiation-hard electronics.
• Take responsibility and intellectual ownership of the team’s transport measurement capabilities, while working directly with material growers and device engineers to provide feedback via transport measurements.
• Design joint growth-transport-device experiments, under the guidance of government leadership.
• Deliver prepared samples, data, and analysis to Air Force Research Laboratory, Materials and Manufacturing Directorate, Electron Materials Branch, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio for verification of results.

Basic Qualifications

• Recent PhD graduates preferred but, recent Master’s graduates with applicable research experience during their program will also be considered.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Clearance Required: Applicants selected will be subject to a security clearance check and/or a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

• Proficiency in advanced data analysis and visualization
• Excellent written and oral communication skills as demonstrated by public presentations and peer-reviewed publications
• Ability to research, devise, and learn new techniques and technical topics
• Ability to work independently and in a group setting
• Ability to use Google Workspace (Google Mail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.) as well as Microsoft Office and Teams

Physical Requirements / Travel

• May travel ~10% to conferences, program reviews, industry meetings, or other collaborative events. Most or all travel would be CONUS (Continental United States).
• Must be able to work in an office environment at a desk and computer using a keyboard and mouse; potential for remote work
• Must be able to work in a lab environment
• Must be able to lift or carry up to 25 pounds
