Blazerworks, a leading provider of educational and therapeutic services, is seeking a qualified and passionate Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher (DHHT) to join our team for the 2023-2024 school year in Mountain View, CA. This position offers flexibility in terms of full or part-time hours, depending on the availability of the selected candidate.

Position Details:

  • Start and End Dates: The position will start on August 3rd and end on May 31st, covering the full duration of the 2023-2024 school year.
  • Availability: The DHHT position is open to both full-time and part-time applicants, depending on the candidate's availability and preference.
  • Onsite Requirement: This is an onsite-only position, and the selected candidate will be expected to work at the designated school site in Mountain View, CA.
  • Caseload: The specific caseload for the DHHT will be determined based on the needs of the students, and will be communicated to the selected candidate upon hiring.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess students' hearing levels and educational needs, and develop appropriate individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, focusing on language development, communication skills, literacy, and academic achievement.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement effective strategies for supporting students' learning and inclusion in the classroom environment.
  • Adapt curriculum materials and utilize assistive technology to enhance students' access to education.
  • Monitor and document students' progress, maintain accurate records, and prepare reports as required.
  • Stay updated on current trends and best practices in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education, and actively engage in professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Valid California teaching credential with a Deaf and Hard of Hearing authorization.
  • Strong knowledge of Deaf and Hard of Hearing education, including various communication methods (e.g., ASL, Cued Speech, auditory-verbal).
  • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals.
  • Ability to tailor instruction to meet students' individual needs and learning styles.
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and its integration into the classroom.
