The School Age and Summer Camp Assistant Director is responsible for coordinating the daily operation of our camps and after school program. The School Age and Summer Camp Assistant Director will help to implement and maintain a safe and fun environment for children. The position is also responsible for supervising and training part-time staff and requires working directly with children and parents on a daily basis by providing quality customer service.

Requirements of a Summer Camp and Year Round School Age Assistant Director :

· Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Elementary Education, Human Services or directly related field preferred. OR

· Two years of college coursework and (6) six month of experience in the care and supervision of four (4) or more children. OR

· Three (3) years of full-time experience working in a similar setting with school age children.

· Must meet appropriate Assistant Director requirements/qualifications and provide all documentation as required by CA State licensing.

· Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within thirty (30) days of employment. Must be insurable

· Excellent interpersonal skills (both verbal and written) and ability to relate to young children, teachers, and parents

· Strong organizational, leadership and managerial skills. Problem-solve and work well as part of a team –be organized and solution-oriented!

· Must be enthusiastic, energetic, friendly and a positive role model

· A passion for children and sensitive to children’s needs

Responsibilities of a Summer Camp and Year Round School Age Assistant Director :

· The School Age and Summer Camp Assistant Director is in charge of all School Age classes and Summer Camp programs. You will supervise and coordinate child development staff to provide a caring and safe learning environment for the children.

· Oversee Admissions/Enrollment Process

· Manage Transportation routes

· Coordinate Special Events (e.g. Thanksgiving, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Holiday Show, Halloween, etc.)

· Conduct orientations, meet & greets, tours, parent/teacher conferences, and child evaluations.

· Be knowledgeable of and adhere to state licensing regulations including completing paperwork (i.e. health records, fire codes, etc.)

· Collaborate with teachers to plan instructional activities and lessons, which promote developmentally appropriate student learning.

· Have a welcoming and professional demeanor.

· Be able to develop and maintain a positive work relationship with all children, parents, and staff and effectively communicate.

· Must have ability to visually and audibly supervise children in a variety of situations.

· Must be highly motivated and take direction well with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

· Will have knowledge of child care programming, safety and emergency first-aid procedures, program management, and excellent customer service.
