The Sales Trainee is responsible to learn all business functions associated with Butler Machinery’s equipment business and provide sales support to various departments as needed. This position can be based out of the following South Dakota locations: Rapid City, Pierre, Chadron and Kearney

Responsibilities:

• Become fluent with all brands, equipment, and services we represent in both our Ag and Construction business.
• Learn and become an expert user of all relevant business systems such as DBS, BMTS, and CloudLink.
• Job Shadow various departments and individuals at the stores and the corporate office to familiarize yourself with Butler Machinery business processes, programs, procedures, and culture.
• Develop relationships, quoting and negotiating with specific customer accounts assigned to you.
• Works within machine margin guidelines, which includes making decisions within the guidelines at the discretion of the Sales Trainee.
• Completes used ag surveys as part of the appraisal process to determine the condition of the machine.
• Support Ag Product Specialists and Heavy Demo Equipment Operators with machine start-ups or demoes throughout the territory.
• Complete all assigned Online Product Training to familiarize yourself with our product offerings.
• Assist with setup and work the farm shows throughout the territory.
• Travel required: Day trips to support neighboring stores, overnights to attend trade shows/training, and job shadows or support at Corporate or other facilities
• Works within and promotes the vision, mission, and values of BMC
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Requires relocation to a related available position as a CAM, Product Specialist, Demo Operator, or other related position across the BMC Territory (ND, SD, NE, MT) within 24 months of accepting the Sales Trainee position
• This entry-level position is a transitional role only to prepare the employee for sales or sales support positions within the Company. Failure to relocate to such an available position when directed by the Company will typically result in separation from employment with BMC.
• A desire to learn about the Agriculture and Construction industries
• Basic knowledge of retail finance contracts and leasing
• Problem solving skills
• Microsoft computer skills
• Excellent motivation, a self-starter with high energy to learn and do more
