Sales Associate

Position Purpose :
The Sales Associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service throughout all hardware departments on the sales floor. This position also assists in a wide variety of sales floor related tasks as directed by the Store Manager. The Sales Associate performs these duties with a cooperative, enthusiastic, positive and supportive attitude.

Customer Service Focus:
  • Be upbeat, positive, and sincere. Amaze every customer, every time. Why not?
  • Answer the phone in a timely manner.
  • Ignore noise and give each customer your undivided attention then return to tasks.
  • Use the S.A.L.E.S process when assisting customers with requests for assistance.
  • Respond to calls from other team members regarding customer service needs, including carry outs, and when necessary, obtain assistance from a more qualified employee.
  • Write up Special Orders.
  • Develop an expert working knowledge of our products.
  • Maintain a clean work area that is safe and barrier-free, keeping all aisles clear.
  • Immediately notify Manager of all customer complaints.
Merchandise/Sales Floor Focus:
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of department locations both on the sales floor and in regards to back stock.
  • Avoid back stock whenever possible.
  • Use the IMU screen to research inventory information .
  • When necessary, use the bin tag printer to print a bin tag for items stocked as merchandise is never to be placed on sales floor without an identified price.
  • Front and face inventory while stocking.
Team Focus:
  • Assist Managers, Assistant Managers, Department Leads and other employees with small projects.
  • Participate in opening and closing checklist duties as requested by manager.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business

Education/Experience:
Skills/Knowledge:
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule to meet the demands of the business.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • A commitment to removing all barriers to sales with service excellence.
  • Successfully complete any required training and be an active, on-going learner.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds frequently to load and unload customer orders and stock shelves. ยท Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to hear, understand and communicate orally and in writing to communicate with staff and customers a normal in-person and phone conversation in English.
  • Ability to bend and twist, push and pull, stoop, and kneel and crawl. Which entails reaching with your hands and arms.
  • Ability to ascend and descend a ladder.
