Overview:
As part of the New Horizons team, coordinates substance abuse prevention activities for Muscatine County. Develops workplans, schedules workplan activities, coordinates schedules for prevention staff, tracks data for workplans, gathers and submits information for grant reporting. Provides comprehensive substance abuse prevention services to Muscatine County. Facilitates evidenced based curriculum in schools, provides workplace trainings and technical assistance, serves as a local expert regarding alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, and works with community coalitions to promote substance abuse prevention. Makes competent decisions and serves as a resource for this area.
COVID-19 and Flu Vaccination Requirement: It is required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 and Influenza. Exemption requests based on medical or religious reasons may be submitted, but must be approved for active employment.

Community Outreach
- Facilitates evidenced based curriculum in the schools, provides substance abuse education and early intervention services, provides workplace trainings and technical assistance, facilitates alternative activities with a prevention focus, provides accurate alcohol, tobacco and drug information at local events, facilitates and coordinates prevention grant workplan activities
- Creates and distributes accurate alcohol, tobacco and other drug information via social media, email and other communication methods,
- Participates in community coalitions to promote substance abuse prevention activities
- Maintains and reports accurate information regarding completion of workplan
Project & Quality Management
- Develops workplan for IDPH grants, following grant guidelines and focusing on meeting the needs of Muscatine County.
- Coordinates prevention activities for the department, coordinates workplan activities, schedules activities, coordinates schedules of all prevention staff
- Accurately gathers data, completes and submits required grant reporting in a timely manner
- Participates in grant required meetings and webinars
- Provides guidance to Prevention Specialist
- Assists with departmental performance improvement through participation in huddles, submission of opportunity slips and participation Just Do It’s and A3’s.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services field
Experience:
Preferred, 2 years experience in Prevention field, experience working with community coalitions, grants and grant reporting.
License(s)/Certification(s):
Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with people of diverse backgrounds and educational levels. -
