RN Quality Management Coordinator- Lakeview Center for Mental Health and Wellness

  • Utilization review of all clinical cases according to regulations governing this activity, participation in the utilization review activities of all mental health programs as needed.
  • Provide clinical supervision to professional or paraprofessional staff related to utilization review.
  • Review of clinical mental health records for timeliness and quality of documentation to insure compliance with regulations governing clinical operation, and provide feedback to clinicians and managers.
  • Provide technical assistance, training, and education to clinicians to assist in improving the quality of their documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of utilization review activities and provide reports to the appropriate individuals and committees.
  • Attend committee meetings as appropriate and requested.
  • Develop and implement quality monitoring, such as utilization review screens, and evaluation instruments in consultation with medical and other professional staff.
  • Maintain familiarity with all regulations, which affect the provision and documentation of clinical services (these include but are not limited to JACHO, OMH, DOH & CMS).
  • Conduct managed care reviews for the Psychiatric Acute Unit.
  • Responsibility for the disaster manual for the division and coordination of training in that area.
  • Develop and conduct workshops or other formal training activities in the area of clinical documentation, treatment plans, utilization, or quality improvement.
  • Track and report JCAHO inpatient mental health core measures, Focused professional practice evaluation (FPPE) & Ongoing professional practice evaluation (OPPE).
  • Ensure compliance with the JCAHO national patient safety goals.
  • Policies and procedure compliance & committee oversight.
  • Participate in the tracking and resolution of client/family complaints.
  • Participate in incident report monitoring as well as sentinel events via NIMRS.
  • Participation & planning regarding OMH, JCAHO, IPRO, and Commission on Quality of Care site reviews and audits.
  • Perform other duties as required.

NYS Licensed Registered Nurse required.


Strong clinical background, excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, organizational skills, problem solving skills, and knowledge of health care regulatory standards and codes.

Minimum three of more years medical/surgical experience preferably in a leadership/team leader position including charge nurse capacity. Strong clinical background. Experience in providing medical staff support and establishing positive rapport, strong information management experience with personal computer knowledge with an emphasis on standard database/spreadsheet/graphics applications.
