Description & Requirements

Womble Bond Dickinson seeks a Research Analyst for the Medical & Scientific Solutions team who will be responsible for conducting high-level research on medical and scientific topics, interpreting and analyzing peer-reviewed scientific literature and other publications, and preparing work product, including but not limited to topical outlines, literature key quotes, and comprehensive research memoranda and summaries.

This position can be located in any WBD offices/locations.

After a training period, this position may be approved to work remotely in accordance with our Agile Work Arrangement policy.


Responsibilities


  • Conduct targeted medical and scientific research to prepare work products that succinctly and plainly convey complex data on various topics or fields of study.
  • Approach research requests critically and creatively to prepare focused analytical documents, including topical outlines, literature key quotes, and research memoranda, in the context of litigation.
  • Interact with counsel, clients, and colleagues through skilled communication (written and verbal) to build strategic relationships and gain greater understanding of their needs.
  • Summarize and/or critique scientific and medical publications with a clear understanding between the two functions.
  • Monitor emerging literature to update existing work product as needed and educate clients and counsel on state-of-the-art science central to their business.

Requirements:

  • Prior medical or legal industry experience is preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree (preferably in science) and 2-3 years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with attorneys and clients regarding research topics.
  • Strong reading comprehension and writing skills, computer skills, data searching skills, and experience with Excel are a must.
  • Must be comfortable with ambiguity, deadline pressures, and able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Occasional weekend and/or after normal business hours work will be expected. Ability to key/type quickly and efficiently is also a must.

  • The national average annualized salary range for this role is $35,700 to $61,110. Starting salary will be determined based on location, qualifications and experience.
