Job Announcement
Position: Rental Assistance Leasing Assistant

Salary Range: $44,036 - $62,677
Under the supervision of the Director of Rental Assistance or designee, is responsible for providing general administrative
support, clerical, general accounting and leasing duties for initial move-ins and relocations under the housing choice voucher

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES:
High School diploma and at least one (1) year of additional training in administrative support or a related area, plus
five (5) years of experience in administrative support, of which at least two (2) years is related to assisted housing or
leasing of rental units.
Candidates with accreditation earned in foreign institutes are encouraged to apply

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist Section 8 Specialists in activity related to intake, leasing and continued occupancy;
  • Receive, process and distribute documents to appropriate specialists for eligibility determination;
  • Add/update unit information in the software system;
  • Receive and respond to general inquiries from tenants and owners;
  • Produce and send appropriate correspondence to tenants and landlords;
  • Develop full knowledge of program requirements necessary for eligibility for rental assistance, and convey
requirements to participants in a clear, accurate and professional manner;
  • Maintain records by adding memos and attaching relevant documents to appropriate files and records
electronically;
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude;
  • Maintain records for the purpose of reporting program activity;
  • Work closely with specialists to ensure proper policies and procedures are followed;
  • Other related duties as necessary.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of the principals and practices of assisted housing and federal, state and local laws and
regulations governing rental housing;
  • knowledge of and ability to utilize computer software applications;
  • ability to receive and retain instructions;
  • ability to make good decisions;
  • ability to maintain courteous communications with program participants and the general public;
  • ability to establish working relationships with co-workers, landlords, service providers, and low-income
residents; ability to perform general clerical duties;
  • ability to be detail-oriented and ability to handle multiple tasks; willingness, mental and physical ability to
perform the duties involved in this classification.
  • Ability to perform work with or without an accommodation that requires sitting, standing, and walking,
dexterity of hands and clarity of vision, speech and hearing, and powers of observation; other physical
duties as required.
