Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) Radioisotope Power System (RPS) Quality group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Radioisotope Quality Engineer! This team works an on-site 4x10 schedule located at our Material and Fuels Complex (MFC) with every Friday off.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Contribute to the exploration of space by helping manage RPS systems and supporting the program's mission. This includes working with different levels of management within the company and other agencies including DOE & DOE Laboratories, NASA, Aerojet Rocketdyne and Teledyne Energy Systems.
  • Assist the RPS Program by working with internal and external customers and other quality professionals to provide independent quality assurance support for the maintenance and development of quality process improvements, quality philosophy, strategic planning, and other quality related initiatives.
  • Mentor junior Quality staff, program/project technical staff, and management on solutions to quality compliance and implementation issues.
  • Coordinate and lead all aspects of the distribution, execution, and completion of work assignments among junior personnel based on tasking by management.
  • Review engineering, fabrication, work planning, operation and maintenance instructions, and procurement documents for compliance to RPS Program and BEA quality requirements.
  • Determine appropriate inspection hold points in processes and procedures, and prepare inspection plans; issue and track non-conformance and other deficiency reports through closure; lead all aspects of configuration and records management activities for RPS Program activities, review and approve tool folders, and prepare data packages to support completion of major RPS work you're doing.
  • Prepare and obtain approval of data packages for high value materials and sub-assemblies including traceability, chain of custody, and all other requirements as mandated by Interface Working Agreements and other external customer requirements documents.

QUALIFICATIONS


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree of science in engineering, technology, or other scientific field and 8 years relevant experience, or advanced degree and 6 years relevant experience.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
  • Able to obtain and maintain radiation worker I qualification.
  • Able to obtain and maintain Technical Staff qualification for nuclear facilities.

Preferred Requirements:

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer.

Job Information

  • Salary Grade 220 ($107,520 - $177,336)
  • Chosen applicants are required to show a demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.
  • TDP: Testing designated position; It will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of employment.
