Corliss Resources is looking for a Quality Control Technician at the Sumner, WA location reporting to the Quality Control Manager.

Key Targets of the Role

  • Perform sampling, inspections, record keeping and analysis of concrete or concrete products, and aggregates either in the field or in a dedicated lab for a wide variety of customers or contractors and collect samples for the sales department.
  • Inspect, sort, weigh, measure or test various raw materials, products, and finished to detect quality, defects, or deviations from stated requirements.

What You’ll Get to Do

  • Sample and test raw materials for specification compliance
  • Validate that the proper components and materials are used
  • Calibrate, clean, and maintain production tools and testing equipment
  • Perform QC tests for entrained air content, slump/workability, coarseness/sand, yield, unit weight, and temperature
  • Be the onsite quality control monitor, which may in some cases include monitoring quality control testing conducted by a 3 rd party firm
  • Record test results and report those results to Dispatch, Batch personnel, and location managers
  • Use test results to make mix adjustments
  • Troubleshoot fresh/hardened concrete problems
  • Assist in the performance of trial batches
  • Act as a customer service facilitator and conduct informative programs for the plant employees and customers
  • Make recommendations and inform the Plant Manager and Quality Control Supervisor when mix design changes are necessary

Essential Experience and Skills

  • High school diploma + 2 years of related experience
  • Familiarity with testing procedures, measuring equipment, calibration and with national testing standards is essential.
  • ACI Level 1 certification preferred, but required within the first 6 months of employment, obtain ODOT CAGT certification
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • A proven safety record
  • Team player
  • Experience working and communicating directly with customers in a problem-solving environment
  • Working knowledge of MS Windows, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to work shifts, Saturdays and overtime when required
  • Previous material testing experience preferred
