Job Summary
The QA Engineer catches any major problems that may arise from system enhancements that would reduce the quality of the product before it goes to launch. The QA Engineer engages with the project team throughout the project life cycle to ensure that quality is achieved with the system and/or client enhancements. Throughout the testing, they report on progress and defects to the project team. The QA Engineer may work directly with Bread Financials' external client partners to onboard new clients or enhance capabilities with existing clients. Additional duties may include configuration updates and business integration.

Essential Job Functions
Test Strategy Planning – Utilizes analytical skills, responsible for the creation of test strategies, test plans and test scripts based on the business and functional requirements for the project and the review of these documents with systems analysts, developers, and/or vendors. Responsible for the creation of a first events validation plan which includes production validation, backout mitigation plan, and post-install support. Act as liaison to developers, vendors, and other areas of the business to ensure project requirements are satisfied. Will work in using Agile Methodology, Waterfall Methodology, or some hybrid form of the methodology.
Test Execution and Reporting – Demonstrates an aptitude for detail and accuracy and technical knowledge, executes test scripts and reports defects using JIRA. Utilizes knowledge of database structure, creates and executes SQL queries to identify test accounts and verify application behavior is working as expected. May update configuration settings. Utilizes problem solving and communication skills to work with development teams and/or vendors to resolve and retest identified defects. Report on testing progress to testing lead or project manager. Executes first events validation and provides knowledge transfer documentation to the production support team. Updates project reporting documentation and attends team meetings. Utilizes defect management and organization skills, provide progress and metrics on test execution and defects to project team. Applies knowledge of Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams to execute daily work.
Business Communications – Demonstrates foundational knowledge of credit card operations, banking, financial, loyalty rewards, and credit card regulatory while working with various areas of the business. Demonstrates leadership by driving the testing of projects and collaborates with stakeholders in understanding the testing needs and reporting on testing results.

Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements: Normal office environment, some travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma
Two or more years of relevant work experience
Preferred Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree(BE/BTech) Area of Study: Computer Science/Information Technology or Equal Technical Degree
Certifications: ISTQB, CSTP, and CAT
Five or more years of Banking/Financial Services/Insurance Domain functional testing experience

Typical Starting Range:
$68,500.00 - $124,100.00
Full Salary Range for position:
California:$78,800.00 - $155,200.00
Colorado:$68,500.00 - $130,400.00
New York:$75,300.00 - $155,200.00
Washington:$71,900.00 - $142,800.00
The actual base pay within this range may be dependent upon many factors, which may include, but are not limited to, work location, education, experience, and skills.
Bread Financial offers medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and other voluntary benefits (including basic and optional life insurance, supplemental medical plans, and short and long-term disability) to eligible associates (regular full-time associates scheduled to work 30 hours per week or more) and their spouses/domestic partners, and child(ren) under the age of 26. New associate elected coverage begins on date of hire (with the exception of disability coverage which has a 6-month waiting period). Six weeks of 100% paid parental leave for eligible parents is available after a 180-day waiting period. Hired associates can immediately enroll in Bread Financial’s 401(k) plan.
All associates receive 11 paid holidays. Associates have discretion in managing their time away from work through the Flexible Time Off (FTO) program and may need to notify and receive approval from their manager prior to taking the time off. Associates receive 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safety Time per calendar year at the beginning of each year and is prorated in the associate’s first year of employment.
Hired associates will be able to elect to purchase company stock during offering periods in June and December. You will be eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on individual and company performance.
