Job description

We are looking for a purchasing manager to join our Denver homebuilding team!

The purchasing manager will be primarily responsible to support the day-to-day purchasing functions within the assigned region. The purchasing manager is tasked with controlling and reducing costs through value engineering, accurate estimates of original budgets, and contracting valued trade-partners.

*Production/ high volume building is required

Major duties performed include:

  • Monitor contracts and base house cost
  • Control takeoffs and review accuracy
  • Manage all vendor contracts and insurance compliance
  • Assist in the opening of new communities
  • Assist with new procedures or system implementations
  • Provide ongoing support and management to the construction team for all purchasing functions
  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of all estimates and start packages
  • Monitor variance information to identify and correct recurring or preventable problems
  • Identify and implement cost-saving techniques, materials, and procedures
  • Assist in determining accurate standard specifications and scopes of work for each trade
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors committed to reducing costs and increasing service
  • Recruit, interview and hire quality trades and vendors

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of purchasing experience in production, multi-family or regional homebuilding environments
  • Demonstrated ability to work across teams, including construction operations, product design, finance and accounting to solve critical business problems
  • Strong background in MS Excel, ERP, and scheduling tools
  • Experience in the field and estimating is a plus
  • Demonstrate ability to complete digital and field quantity takeoffs as needed
  • Ability to read and translate plans, details, project submittals, and project scopes of work

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
