As we continue to manufacture industrial fans for critical industries such as defense, mining, and infrastructure, we are now searching for a Project Manager (PM). Under minimal supervision, the Project Manager is responsible for managing large projects for the industrial segment (Department of Defense, Tunnel & Metro, Garden City, and other large-scale projects) of our business. The Project Manager will work autonomously as well as lead many cross-functionalteams in the management of a significant portion of Howden American Fan’s revenue. The Project Manager will be the single point of contact for customers after a project has been awarded to Howden Americas Fans.
What needs to be done?
  • Review and understanding of technical documents and specification to understand what the customer requires
  • Prepares and owns project schedule with key stake holders and keeps customer up to date with plan
  • Identifies potential schedule impacts and facilitates mitigation plan to eliminate/minimize impacts
  • Own budget of project and tracks costs against budget
  • Own project milestone plan, invoicing, and cash collection
  • Identifies potential budget impacts and facilitates mitigation plan to eliminate/minimize impacts
  • Over communicate with customer on project schedule progress
  • Establishes and drives process improvements to ensure common KPI’s, documented process and change controls, and skill knowledge transfer.
  • Thoroughly review project specifications and direct the internal project.
  • Review, edit, and approve major purchase equipment specifications.
  • Lead and ensure the technical package remains within the utilities, controls, and logic planning for the overall system scope.
  • Receive and review any submittals or returned documents from the customer to ensure any marks, comments, or questions from the customer are within technical and commercial of the contract scope.
  • Manage all commercial effects. Manage technical interface effects. Identify and disseminate detailed design actions / changes to design engineering and sub supplier partners.
  • Manage change requests from the customer, and investigate to determine technical and commercial effects of a change to the project, prepare a change order offer to the customer, and implement any agreed contract changes.
  • Receive, review, and approve sub supplier partner document submittals. Identify and disseminate critical technical information between internal design engineering and other sub supplier partners.
  • Document and provide monthly operating reports with KPI’s and other relevant materialsin a timely manner.
  • Partner with all central functions such as Quality, Engineering, Finance, IT, and HR to ensure that cross functional collaboration occurs, as necessary.
What do I need to bring?
Essential:
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field.
  • In lieu of the above requirement, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • 5 plus years of project management experience.
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to understand mechanical and electrical equipment design and interface concepts, as well as the ability to understand instrument and control functions.
  • Experienced in project management and delivery of technical, highly engineered systems through EPC and AE’s to end-users.
  • Experienced in the financial aspects of project management, i.e., delivering within project margin, variance and cash flow projections.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office Software including; Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Desirable:
  • Project management certification.
  • Experience in air and gas handling and movement industry.
  • Experience working in a matrix organization where influence, indirect leadership and compelling ideas are used to accomplish organizational objectives.
