ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:

This is a part time (up to twenty hours per week) non-tenure track position beginning August 2022 with possibility of renewal. The Program Specialist is responsible for supporting the OTA Program Director as a core program staff member to help ensure the program is successful.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Assume adjunct teaching duties as assigned by the program director within the OTA Program.

2. Assisting in lab based classes and open lab hours as assigned

3. Provide tutoring assistance to students that require it as assigned.

4. Assisting the Fieldwork Coordinator in the developing of, conducting, coordinating, and evaluating the fieldwork education component of the OTA Program.

5. Maintain current knowledge of the occupational therapy assistant profession, clinical skills, and educational methodology through continuing professional development.

6. Involvement in all areas of student and program assessment from admission to post graduation as outlined in the program accreditation assessment plan.

7. Other duties as outlined or assigned by the program director and/or Lackawanna College administration including but not limited to ACOTE accreditation requirements, participation on college committees, student recruitment, and community service

8. Other program specific activities as assigned by the program director to align with ACOTE requirements for core program staff.

KEY COMPETANCIES:

  • A Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) or an Occupational Therapist with current licensure / certification in the state of Pennsylvania.

2. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to multi-task, strong leadership abilities, and good time management and organizational skills.

  • Familiarity or experience with ACOTE Accreditation requirements for OTA programs.

EDUCATION:

  • Hold a minimum of an associate degree for OTA or a baccalaureate degree for OT awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE recognized institutional accrediting body
  • Must be currently licensed or otherwise regulated in the PA as an occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant.

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 2 years post-graduation clinical experience including but not limited to experience supervising and educating OTA/OT students.
  • Must show evidence of continued professional development and or specialization / certification in content area
