ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· WIC Reception Work:

· Answers phone, direct calls, answer question, and screen potential participants.

· Handles appointment scheduling and rescheduling in books and/or on the computer.

· Greets and checks in participants.

· Manages flow of people in reception area.

· Directs participants to appropriate staff.

· Keeps adequate supply of program pamphlets for participants.

· Runs educational videos, as needed.

· File Management:

· Obtains new participant ID number or obtain existing number from system.

· Collects basic participant information for eligibility screening.

· Prepares charts with appropriate forms.

· Pulls and files charts for active and terminating participants.

· Certification:

· Verifies category, identity, income, and residency to determine WIC eligibility. Collect and enter participant demographic data.

· Fills out eligibility form.

· Reads/explains WIC rights and responsibilities to participant.

· Makes required referrals to TAFDC, Medicaid, and Food Stamps program.

· Makes referrals to other non-WIC services as needed.

· Provides ID folder, vendor list, and WIC food list to participant.

· Authorizes signature.

· Processes participant proxies for check pickup.

· Matches black printed check number with red number already on check and number on signature log.

· Matches “void in hand” checks and logs at end of day.

· Deals with lost checks (void/reissue, notify state/ complete form). Notify state of check ranges if upload does not occur.

· Ensures blank checks are safe when not in use.

· Explains to participants about food list and vendor list as needed.

· Notifications:

· Sends/gives out notification letters.

· Prints letter labels on computer.

· Documents on letter logs or participant chart all letters given or sent.

· Computer Management:

· Starts up/shuts down computers at beginning and end of day.

· Calls state help desk to solve computer or printer problems.

· Keeps computer equipment clean.

· Quality Assurance:

· Ensures thoroughness, accuracy, and attention to detail in record keeping, scheduling and follow-up, while maintaining efficiency.

· Double- checks own for accuracy.

· Provides ideas to supervisor for increasing efficiency in the office.

· Performs other duties as required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
