Job description

1st Shift manager for Matco Tools Jamestown Operation. Business employees approximately 600 associates (100 at Distribution Centers, 150 at Jamestown Manufacturing Facility, 200 at Matco Corporate Offices, 125 Field Sales Associates) and has revenues of approximately $600M. Position is responsible for shift daily plant operations including achieving quality, delivery and cost targets.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Responsible for first shift safety, quality, delivery, and cost metrics within the Production areas of the plant, and the daily report of results.
  • Operate within approved budget boundaries and achieve operating performance targets.
  • Use VBS tools to drive continuous process improvements in quality, on-time delivery, cost savings, and inventory reduction; utilize Kaizen teams within the operation and improve factory floor understanding of VBS tools.
  • Accountable for meeting needs of a growing business by managing production levels and using DRA to drive delivery and productivity.
  • Develop associates in a manner which meets the future needs of the business, identify key contributors and areas of organizational and individual development.
  • Conduct and deliver annual performance appraisals for hourly associates. Generate and support execution of development plans to drive associate growth.
  • Engage with associates to maintain positive associate relations, partnering with HR and utilizing tools such as associate engagement survey.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment that is in compliance with all OSHA (US), EPA (US), and any related country-specific environmental regulations and guidelines.
  • Work with Operations Director to help uncover issues within the cell and support resolution and rollout of solutions.
  • Must be willing / able to work Saturday shifts as needed and cross over into 2nd shift for cross-training, consistency, etc. efforts.
  • Responsible for routine disciplinary action including administration of verbal and written warnings.

  • Execute Jamestown Immersion
  • Execute PSP Process and demonstrate results

WHO YOU ARE

  • Strong computer skills, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
  • At least 1 year supervising 40+ people in high pace, manufacturing environment
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Organization/planning skills
  • Strong communications skills, verbal, written, and interpersonal
