Innovators of pop-up greeting cards, FreshCut Paper is seeking a junior Product Designer/ Paper Engineer to join our growing team and help expand and develop the FreshCut Paper product line. This role will report to the Founder/Head of Product and is primarily responsible for helping bring concepts to life through the development and evolution of designs with an in-house product design team. This is a great position for someone who is highly detail oriented, loves building with their hands and working with paper.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-fidelity product and packaging prototypes using in-house laser cutter, printers, and prototyping tools. Rapid prototyping and iteration is critical.
• Create impeccable production-ready files that are organized and consistent with our file formats including dieline, bleed, and any other production requirements.
• Responsible for working with illustrators to develop paper structures and layouts which enable two dimensional drawings to become lifelike, three dimensional objects.
• Analyze production samples from manufacturing partners and provide detailed feedback for continuous improvement.
• Support quality assurance function to ensure product structures are sound at commercial scale and deliver a great customer experience.
• Participate in materials, user, and market research for new product concepts
• Actively communicate project status and successfully meet project objectives.
• Research references and inspirations in line with current and future trends and contribute to creative discussions

Requirements

• 1-2 years experience in paper product development, packaging, or 3D model building.
• Background in industrial design, architecture, and consumer products preferred.
• High proficiency in building detailed prototypes using an array of tools and materials - printer, laser cutter, X-acto knife, adhesives, tape, rubber bands etc.
• Experience using programs such as Illustrator and photoshop
• Experience with running and maintaining product development equipment including printers, laser cutters, etc.
• This is an in-person, full-time position.
