The Naval Nuclear Laboratory comprises the U.S. Department of Energy locations and personnel responsible for developing advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology, providing technical support to ensure the safety and reliability of our nation’s naval nuclear reactors, and training the Sailors who operate those reactors in the U.S. Navy’s submarines and aircraft carrier Fleets. Job Description

The Kesselring Site (KS) Critique Program Coordinator and Management Meeting Item (MMI) process owner serves as the site's expert in training personnel to prevent significant problems and investigating those that occur. Critiques are a formal investigation process for engineering and compliance issues to determine what actions will minimize recurrence. The MMI process employs the same methods and results for the site's top issues. An integral part of this position is the training, certification, and monitoring of Critique Facilitators on the process and effective behaviors for facilitating positive learning investigations. This position also involves assistance with causal analysis and selection of preventive/corrective actions by the teams investigating MMIs, reviews of draft meeting agendas, and facilitation of monthly MMI meetings with senior leaders. The MMI process owner is responsible for preparing the MMI meeting minutes which are distributed to all senior leaders and government personnel. This position also involves system administration for the incident and critique database and retention of MMI meeting minutes. Lastly, the successful candidate will be required to participate in the KS Emergency Response Organization and provide input and perspective for KS self-assessments. Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelor's degree in a technical, engineering or science-related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of nine years of relevant experience or; Master's degree in a degree in a technical, engineering or science-related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of seven years of relevant experience or; Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part II qualified or qualified SIT and three years as EOOW in the Nuclear Operations Program or

Preferred Skills

  • Previous experience with the critique or incident investigation processes
  • Previous experience or training in any of the following: causal analysis, developing a problem/cause/corrective action matrix, developing an MMI, or development of "A" finding response (s)
  • Previous experience in Quality Assurance processes or in classroom instruction/teaching
  • Demonstrated verbal, written, communication, and teaming skills
