Job Purpose

Postdoctoral fellowships in Applied Behavior Analysis provide advanced training in the science and practice of behavior analysis. The overall goal is to prepare the trainees to function independently in their profession. The topic areas of the fellowship training include: advanced training in research, assessment, treatment, case management, supervision, and ethical and professional behavior.

Duties and Responsibilities

Build Organizational Capacity in Relevant Field of Expertise

In collaboration with clinical leadership, design and implement systems to maintain state-of the-art processes for skill acquisition and skill-based treatment across the organization

  • Create and maintain quality standards for skill acquisition programs
  • Create and maintain standards for intake assessments, curriculum placement, and clinical problem solving
  • Develop and maintain systems for consistent implementation of curricular systems across the organization
  • Create and maintain process and outcome measures

In collaboration with clinical leadership, train and mentor VIA employees in evidence-based clinical practices. This may include:

  • Design, plan, and conduct training sessions with VIA employees across the organization
  • Create a community of practice to maintain skills, capacities, and systems
  • Lead and/or participate in regularly schedules case reviews with VIA employees

Design, Conduct, and Present Research

Design research projects addressing clinical needs or questions at VIA

  • Write protocols
  • Submit IRBs, where applicable

Run participants through original research protocols at VIA

Assist outside collaborators with research, as needed

  • Submitting IRBs
  • Writing protocols
  • Running participants
  • Writing manuscripts
  • Graphing and analyzing data

Assist with ongoing VIA research initiatives, as needed

  • Submitting IRBs

  • Submit manuscripts for publication
  • Present research posters and/or presentations at conferences

Provide Service to VIA

Assist with staff training projects, as needed

  • Back-to-basics training sessions
  • Leadership training sessions
  • Performance checklists
  • Journal club
  • Consult with sister organizations or outside collaborators as needed
  • Volunteer to assist with at least two events at VIA
Requirements:


Qualifications

  • Official transcripts from graduate programs
  • Verification letter of completed PhD requirements (completed by dissertation chair or the director of your training program), if transcripts do not reflect degree has been awarded
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst certified (preferred)
  • Valid Virginia license in Behavior Analysis (preferred)
  • Extensive knowledge and skills in applied behavior analysis and evidence-based strategies for learners with autism and other developmental disabilities
  • Solid knowledge of the behavioral, cognitive, educational, vocational, social, communication, and functional skills/adaptive behavior challenges in individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Ability to work independently, with great attention to details, and prioritize tasks/goals for self and others
  • Ability and willingness to work with all VIA programs to advance ONEVIA mission
  • Ability and willingness to travel to a different VIA location (Charlottesville, Roanoke, Lexington, Lynchburg) on a regular basis (up to once per week)
  • Ability to organize assigned tasks, prioritize heavy workload, and develop comprehensive timetables and strategies to meet multiple and constantly changing deadlines
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with individuals and groups at all professional levels

Position Type

This is a full-time position. The primary location of the fellowship is in Charlottesville, but regular travel to other VIA locations in Virginia will be required (up to once per week). Ability to attend trainings and conferences outside of the Monday-Friday work schedule may be required.

This position does not provide direct supervision.
