The Role


The incumbent will provide the Huntsville Plant, Abrasive Grains business management and corporate staff with operational and financial reports and analysis regarding plant operating results. The incumbent will partner with plant and business management and makes recommendations for profitability and working capital improvements and ensures that proper controls are utilized to protect the company’s assets.

Manage, review and summarize periodic financial analysis (whether it may be daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual) to operational management that is accurate, timely, and value-added.

  • The Plant Controller, Huntsville is responsible for the preparation, review of and summary of periodic financial analysis including but not limited to the measuring of Sales (R05), cost of Sales (R25), gross Margins (R20), manufacturing variances (R31), manufacturing quality and inventory provisions (R32), and SG&A (R51, R52, R53, and R56).
  • Strong focus on measuring the accuracy and timeliness of the manufacturing variances with an in depth understanding of purchase price variances, material usage variances, technical variances and absorption of overheads.
  • Furthermore, providing analysis and reporting on key manufacturing performance indicators (Operational KPIs) that monitor and measure results.

Manage and coordinate monthly closing process and communicate results within operations and to corporate office.

  • Responsible for preparing and coordinating the monthly closing process which includes and is not limited to manual journal entries, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy of numbers through extensive review and reporting within the timeframe permitted by the SGC corporate guidelines. Responsible for the highlighting, documentation, and communication to all levels of management.

Manage financial and accounting functions/systems to ensure operating performance information is compliant with corporate accounting and auditing policies (follows SGC ICRF guidelines- Internal Reference Framework) and applicable local, state, and federal laws.

  • Responsible for ensuring accurate and strong internal controls for managing the sites’ assets and liabilities.
  • Responsible for reporting, measuring and conducting annual physical inventories, as well as conducting monthly cycle counts.
  • Perform quarterly analysis on slow moving inventories and communicate results to all levels of management.
  • Provide in depth analysis and reporting on BFRE (inventory, AR, AP) results and working with all levels of management in reducing working capital plans.
  • Responsible for ensuring the plant is following guidelines for capital purchases and providing timely reporting on spending to avoid cost overruns.
  • Responsible for managing the financial and accounting functions/systems to ensure operating performance information is compliant with corporate accounting and internal auditing policies (SGC ICFR) and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
  • Provides responses to inquiries concerning Corporate Accounting Policy, US GAAP, and IFRS related issues.
  • Responsible for the implementation of new methods to accommodate revisions to the Corporate Accounting Policy or a change necessitated by new government regulations.

Planning and Special projects.

  • Responsible for the planning, preparing, and participation in the annual budget processes.
  • Work with all levels of management for providing and calculating accurate standard costs, creation of P&L and balance sheet numbers as well as headcount.
  • Responsible for measuring and reporting WCM and Impact 300 savings committed to within the budget.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree Finance / Accounting Required
  • Master’s Degree Finance / Accounting / MBA Preferred
  • 3-5 years Required Working experience in finance / plant controlling within a manufacturing facility
  • Required Proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and other CRM system
  • Essential Broad technical accounting knowledge of an ERP (QAD, preferred)
