We are currently seeking applicants for the following position:

Position: Payroll Specialist

Job Brief:

The Payroll Specialist will be required to complete the bi-weekly payroll cycle for the company for US and Canadian Operations. This role would report to the Payroll Lead and will be based out of our Greeley Colorado Office.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for both the US and Canadian Operations. (Training on Canadian Payroll would be provided.)
  • Familiarity with the various state and federal payroll and tax rules and regulations, would be trained on Canadian provincial and federal tax rules and regulations.
  • Enter all new hire data, employee transfer data, terminations, and employee change data into IFS (ERP) system.
  • Enter all additional pays such as bonuses, and PTO and flex days into IFS (ERP) system.
  • Submit benefit enrollments, life changes events and terminations to service provider.
  • Input payroll data into third party payroll systems (Paychex & Ceridian).
  • Ensure accuracy of payroll and tax documents.
  • Process and reconcile paid vacation and general holiday pay.
  • Maintain payroll records
  • Resolve payroll problems
  • Answer payroll related questions from employees
  • Assist with requests for verification of employment and income.
  • Participate in payroll related audits and reporting requirements (i.e., Worker s compensation, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with payroll laws and regulations, including federal, state and/or provincial tax laws
  • Assist with health and retirement plan deductions and reconciliations.
  • Remit payroll tax returns as required that may not be completed by third party payroll processor.
  • Work closely with finance and human resources.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A positive and proactive approach towards problem-solving and meeting challenges.
  • Strong computer skills with demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite, MS Excel, and ERP (IFS) software.
  • Familiarity and knowledge of payroll laws and regulations, including federal, state and/or provincial tax laws.
  • Self-motivated
  • Professional and ethical
  • Experience with Ceridian and/or Paychex would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to handle confidential information ethically with integrity and professionalism.

Education:

  • Associates Degree/certificate in finance, accounting or HR or another related field.
  • Payroll certification would be an asset.
  • 2+ Previous experience in Payroll, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field.
