What this job involves – The Painter/Generalist role will focus on correcting & repairing appearance of the property. This position will be part of the IFM team responsible for delivering Facility Management services to Bristol Myers Squibb in Devens, Ma. The roughly 1 million Sq. ft. campus consists of Labs, Offices, Manufacturing, Warehousing, Critical Utility Buildings, as well as other site supporting structures. 80% of the position will be painting duties and the other 20 % the Technician will support operation, inspection, and maintenance processes to mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and life safety systems in assigned facilities. Performs inspections and repairs to assigned property interior and exterior areas, including walls and flooring, installed fixtures, roofing systems, lighting, etc.

What is your day to day?

  • Perform routine repair, maintenance, restoration, and replacement of various components of the physical structure of the buildings.
  • Prepare, prime, and paint building interior and exterior surfaces and perform general handyman tasks to maintain buildings.
  • Patch and paint office, outside and controlled work environments
  • Maintain and repair locks, locking mechanisms, closers, doors, furniture and controllers.
  • Maintain and complete documentation for fire extinguishers and other building systems.
  • Maintain and repair plumbing components including toilets, urinals, lavatories, flush valves, sinks, drains, and sump pumps.
  • General interior maintenance – hang pictures, install keyboard trays, repair office furniture systems, office moves and room setups.
  • Completes special tasks that include but are not limited to; painting, locksmith work, tenant services requests, and general maintenance as assigned.
  • Moves office furniture, machinery, equipment and other materials as requested.
  • Perform assigned facility inspections and due diligence efforts, reporting on as found conditions impacting satisfactory client occupancy and operations.
  • Complies with all policies for the safe storage, usage and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs.
  • Checks malfunctioning equipment and ascertains corrective action required to restore to satisfactory operating condition.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Complete Hazard Assessments as necessary.
  • Documents work performance and materials procurement as directed.
  • Any and all other duties assigned.

Work Hours

Sunday - Tuesday and Sunday - Wednesday (6a - 6p) 36/48 bi-weekly pay

Desired experience and technical

Required

  • Previous Commercial, Industrial or Residential Painting experience.
  • Candidate must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license
  • Must have ability to regularly lift up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have the ability to safely perform overhead work while standing on ladders up to 28 ft.
  • Must have the ability to regularly walk, bend, stoop, crouch, crawl, lift, push, pull, etc. in order to test and perform maintenance.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Possess safety and mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic computer skills required.

Preferred

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an applicable technical training program is desirable.
  • Previous work experience in lab or manufacturing environment, cGMP experience desired.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in general building repair and maintenance, basic working knowledge of HVAC/R, plumbing, and electrical desirable.
  • Level 2 or above painter with experience in Epoxy paint.
  • CMMS experience desired.
