Job Summary:

The Operations Supervisor (OS) is key to both the support for the Chrysalis clients who are participating in Works’ 12-month transitional jobs program and for the Chrysalis supervisors who are working to keep their respective districts clean. The OS will direct, work hands on with, and help supervise/manage street maintenance crews for Chrysalis Works as they provide clean services such as graffiti abatement, weed abatement, and the sweeping of sidewalks and gutters. They will play both an operations role (supervising contracts, following up on customer requests) as well as a programmatic/direct service role (providing on the job feedback to workers). Their primary goal will be to facilitate Works clients becoming more job ready while ensuring work quality in the field meets or exceeds Chrysalis standards.


Duties and Responsibilities to include but not limited to:

  • Supervise Chrysalis Works workers at various contracts on a daily basis to ensure that the scope of work is being executed in a professional and timely manner.
  • Provide shift coverage at customer sites for project managers, supervisors, and pressure washers at the Works businesses, as well as support Chrysalis Enterprises’ other programs.
  • Ensure the customer’s needs are met according to the contractual obligations with the highest level of customer service.
  • Conduct briefings and trainings on job duties, proper equipment use, safety, and other pertinent areas.
  • Report worker incidents and injuries immediately to Works Management and provide written documentation for each incident.
  • Ensure that all safety procedures at the contracts and in the operation of vehicles, equipment, and tools are being met by all crew members daily.
  • Work closely with the Works office staff to assist with the day-to-day operations.
  • Perform site visits/inspections of Works contracts and pressure washing assignments to ensure work quality.
  • Perform street maintenance duties as needed, which may include, but are not limited to: a. Emptying and replacing liners in trash receptacles
  • Removing graffiti and stickers
  • Reporting bulk items
  • Sweeping and/or blowing leaves and other debris on sidewalks and gutters
  • Basic landscaping (e.g., pulling weeds, trimming shrubbery)
  • Maintaining equipment
  • Pressure washing
  • Run errands, such as purchasing supplies from Home Depot, as needed to meet the operational needs of the organization and its customers.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner including, but not limited to, site inspection forms and feedback forms.
  • Complete special projects in thorough manner on as needed basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Job Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ability to work flexible schedule (including mornings, nights and weekends).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills and evidence of a strong work history.
  • Willingness and desire to mentor the CE worker population and support the CE transitional jobs programs.
  • Have a valid Class C California driver’s license and the ability to qualify for Chrysalis Enterprises insurance coverage.
  • Ability to pick up, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. and work on his/her feet throughout shift.
  • Work in or outdoors, standing and walking, for long periods of time (up to full shift) in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.).
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, balance contract and office requirements, manage projects, meet deadlines and coordinate well with others.
