Summary: The job of Operations Specialist was established for the purpose/s of providing general operation services as needed and or assigned. This position will be conducting a wide variety of property related activities; addressing immediate operational and /or safety concerns; and ensuring that all the properties are, well maintained.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensuring a safe working condition
  • Reports maintenance issues to the Operations Coordinator
  • Communicates all crises and property related issues to Operations Coordinator immediately.
  • Keeps records of house rule violations, maintenance and service requests.
  • Ensures that Progressive Housing & Permanent Supportive Housing have all necessary household supplies and renews those supplies monthly.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective function of the work.

  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
  • Ability to get along and work effectively with others.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory duties.

Qualifications: Skills are required to perform multiple tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the function of the job include: operating equipment used in skilled trades, power and hand tools, etc.; adhering to safety practices, handling hazardous materials; and planning and managing projects.

Work with a wide diversity of individuals Interact with tenants with mental and physical disabilities and wide range on chemical addictions.

Specific ability-based competencies required to perform job functions to include: developing effective working relationships, displaying mechanical aptitude, complying with OSHA/TOSHA regulations and Sacramento Code requirements.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Handyman Certification; or five year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in plumbing, electrical training and sheet rock repairs. Have experience in working with Section 8 (SHRA) inspections.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of experience with Microsoft Office Suite of products. Knowledge of basic office equipment should include: Internet and email, and telephone.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: A current CA driver’s license and proof of auto insurance are required.

Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Aptitude to prepare clear and concise reports. This position requires the ability to communicate and comprehend oral and written information in English, think critically, analyze information and make reasonable decisions. Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus.

Exerting 51 to 100 pounds of force occasionally or 26 to 50 pounds of force frequently or 11 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Job demands you sit occasionally stand frequent, walking on level and uneven ground, lifting, and carrying heavy objects to complete job duties.
