Title: Open Rank Clinical Faculty Physician – Specialty: Obstetrics and Gynecology

Summary:

This non-tenure track clinical faculty physician position will provide care at the UH Family Care Center and contribute to the pre-clerkship and clerkship curriculum at the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine. This position will require prenatal care and contraceptive management including long-acting reversible contraception. This clinician will also evaluate and manage common ambulatory obstetric and gynecological conditions such as abnormal uterine bleeding, abnormal pap smears, and menopausal symptoms. In addition to direct patient care, this faculty physician will contribute to several areas of the curriculum including the reproductive organ system block and the obstetrics and gynecology component of the longitudinal integrated clerkship.

At this time, all faculty appointments in the College of Medicine are non-tenure track. The College of Medicine anticipates being able to make tenure track positions available for application in the future.

This position will report directly to the Chairman of the Clinical Sciences Department.


Specific duties include the following:

Primary Responsibilities:
Educational Mission (50%)

  • Contribute to the reproductive/endocrine organ system block course
  • Collaborate with the Ob/Gyn clerkship director for the longitudinal integrated clerkship
  • Contribute to the Integrated Clinical Cases within the Basic Science phase of the pre-clerkship curriculum and contribute to other courses, as needed, for reproductive-related health topics.
  • Mentor and/or advise medical students, especially those interested in the specialty of obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive health.

Direct Patient Care (50%)

  • Evaluate and treat patients with ambulatory obstetrical conditions such as normal intrauterine pregnancy and gestational diabetes at the UH Family Care Center.
  • Provide contraceptive counseling and insertion of long-acting reversible contraceptive devices.
  • Manage ambulatory gynecological conditions such as abnormal uterine bleeding and abnormal pap smears.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives at the UH Family Care Center
  • Engage in teaching in the clinical setting with learners at various stages.


Salary and rank commensurate with academic achievements and experience.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
  • Medical Licensure in the State of Texas
  • Board certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology
  • Experience documenting with an electronic medical record
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in medical education
  • Experience with inter-professional teams
  • Experience contributing to quality improvement projects
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic or Chinese

Academic rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor and Clinical Professor will be determined by the University of Houston College of Medicine Faculty Appointment Promotion and Tenure Committee.
