The Sheriff's Department Health Services Division is recruiting for Sheriff's Nurse Supervisors I who supervise and coordinate a staff of Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses and medical support staff in a correctional or detention facility. The immediate vacancies are night shift and day shift at West Valley Detention Center (Rancho Cucamonga) and High Desert Detention Center (Adelanto) . The resulting list may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur throughout the County detention centers while the list remains active.

We are also accepting applications for Sheriff's Nurse Supervisor II, which requires a separate application. Applicants are encouraged to view the announcement and apply for both levels, as appropriate.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Background: Candidates must not have been convicted of a felony and upon appointment must successfully pass a background investigation including a polygraph and fingerprint check.
Physical: Requires physical agility and mobility, hand dexterity, good vision and hearing; lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds may be required.
Environment: Working conditions involve exposure to infectious materials and working in a locked facility.
Travel: Travel throughout the County will be required. Incumbents are required to make provision for transportation. At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced for the individual providing the transportation.

Minimum Requirements

License: Must possess and maintain a current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
-AND-

Experience (Must meet one of the following options):
Option #1: One (1) year of experience as a registered nurse in a locked correctional facility.

-OR-

Option #2: Three (3) years of experience as a registered nurse in an emergency department or critical care unit in an acute care hospital to include one (1) year in a lead/charge nurse capacity. Experience may be concurrent.

Desired Qualifications

Supervisory, Charge, or Lead experience is desirable.
