LINE COOK

JOB DESCRIPTION

A line cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and plating menu items for the restaurant during service hours. Line cooks are also responsible for prepping and setting up designated station on hot line. A line cook must be able to properly read and follow specified recipes set by kitchen managers. Line cooks must ensure food items are prepared simultaneously in a timely manner. Line cooks are responsible for putting out a complete and finished product that is visually appealing while following proper food safety and sanitation policies. Line cooks must be able to maintain a clean and organized workstation. All line cooks must be willing and able to work all stations on the hot line. Line cooks are responsible for answering, reporting to, and following kitchen and assistant kitchen manager instructions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up designated workstations on hotline
  • Know all menu items and how they are prepared
  • Correctly read and follow recipes specified by kitchen manager
  • Correctly read tickets and prepare food as specified
  • Prepare, cook, and plate menu items in a timely manner
  • Prepare a consistent product every time
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation policies and procedures
  • Keep a clean and organized work environment
  • Stock all workstations as needed
  • Properly wrap and store any food items needed
  • Assess product inventory to know what needs to be prepped next day
  • Clean hot line thoroughly and assist in other kitchen cleaning duties
  • Perform any additional tasks assigned by MOD
  • Check out with MOD before end of shift

REQUIREMENTS

  • Flexibility and adherence to scheduling
  • Demonstrates ability and willingness to be present and consistently on time
  • Must have previous kitchen experience
  • Must be able to communicate effectively to other team members and management
  • Must be able to understand proper food and sanitation policies
  • Must understand proper cooking methods and procedures
  • Must be able to read and understand recipes
  • Must have high attention to detail
  • Must have strong organization skills and ability to multi-task
  • Must be able to walk and stand during entire shift, and be able to reach, bend, stoop and wipe
  • Must be able to carry trays or supplies (10-30 lbs.)
  • A desire to help where needed and work as part of a team and the ability to work self-sufficiently
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
