Some of the tasks may include but are not limited to:

Greet all who enter the unit with a smile.

Keep the work area clean and uncluttered. Promptly answer call lights and contact staff to assist the patient. Send a text to all phones when a physician arrives on the unit as applicable. Coordinate with the charge nurse for breaks and meals to ensure coverage at the desk.
Perform clerical functions for the unit, such as data/order entry and processing paperwork for admitting/discharging/transferring patients from the unit. Proactively monitor the electronic pending board and promptly informs the CN of new admissions. Enter discharges and transfers from the unit into the computer in real-time patient safety data and edit assignments in the computerized call light system and update the assignment as necessary throughout the day. Monitor patient safety data in the call light computer and contact the nurse as necessary (e.g., bed is s not locked) as applicable. Proactively check printers and copiers for paper and toner. Scan documents as applicable. Utilize SAP to order supplies from General Stores and special orders items. Schedule ambulances for outside appointments and emergency department transfers as requested. Assemble patient files upon admission and maintain them during the patient stay. Disassemble medical records. Update the nursing station whiteboard throughout the day. Participate in blood product retrieval and transport. Communicate with physicians and other members of the care team as appropriate. Make contact with patients and families to answer questions and follow up on concerns. Ensure all patients, visitors, and staff have proper identification in accordance with hospital policy. Monitor and prioritize patients'/families' requests for information or action. Communicate problematic or complex complaints to appropriate management.

Desired Experience:

1. Strong interpersonal skills, including sensitivity, maturity, and tact necessary to communicate effectively with patients, family members, and co-workers, and the ability to work efficiently with episodic interruptions in workflow.
2. Ability to problem solve, anticipate needs and take initiative is required.
3. Ability to use a computer (Epic, SAP, Transquest, and HillRom), following clear instructions and procedures for looking up relevant data and sending and receiving emails.
4. Must be able to pass all hospital competencies required for the position.
5. Knowledge of SAP is preferred.

Education Requirements:

1. High School Diploma or equivalency required.
2. Associate’s degree preferred.
3. One (1) year demonstrated experience interacting with the public.
