Overview:
PURPOSE:
This person must display leadership skills for the day-to-day lab operations as well as assist the Microbiology Lab Manager when needed.

Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment; ability to move in food processing facilities (sometimes through narrow passages, in wet areas, or on elevated platforms); ability to occasionally move about inside the office, food processing facilities and/or farming fields; must be able to work in different temperatures (working temperatures as hot as 100° to 105° F and as cold as -20° F to 32° F); must be able to work in a high noise area; ability to inspect equipment and product. TITLE: MICROBIOLOGY LABORATORY SUPERVISOR
LOCATION: ARVIN, CA
COMPENSATION: $64,480 - $70,000 / YEAR
PURPOSE:
This person must display leadership skills for the day-to-day lab operations as well as assist the Microbiology Lab Manager when needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Provide direction and leadership to Micro Lab Techs to ensure that standard operating procedures are being followed. -
Oversee time clock edits and maintain lab inventory.

Follow audit schedule and respond to daily changes.

Arrange and document work schedules for technicians for effective and efficient work process flow.

Assist technicians with analysis tasks as needed to ensure timely results.

Ensure all instruments are calibrated and schedule calibration when needed.

Communicate with appropriate departments about missing samples or errors.

Troubleshoot and suggest solutions to quality or food safety problems.

Ensure all training needs of the organization affecting product safety and quality as well as personnel safety are met.

Provide recommendations to management in relation to laboratory compliance.

Verify daily workload is completed and report any abnormalities to the Lab Manager.

Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Ensure all policies and procedures are in accordance with those specified in the lab’s ISO accreditation.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree preferred- Must have some background knowledge or experience of working in a lab, preferably microbiology lab
- Ability to analyze and review daily testing results and input into data logging software and spreadsheets
- Strong leadership, communication, and time management skills
- Self-starter and ability to track and maintain project process independently
- Ability to maintain high quality standards with minimal supervision and to bring urgent matters to the attention to proper personnel for immediate resolution
- Ability to read and interpret procedures, safety information, operating and maintenance instructions
- Strong planning and organizational skills and proactive work initiative to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information
- Must have computer skills and ability to utilize standard Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus
- Remote work not available for this position
- Must pass pre-placement drug/alcohol screen
