MFM Sonographer- Physician Center

Essential Functions

• Performs abdominal and transvaginal OB/ Gyn sonographic procedures according to department standards in a timely and efficient manner. Ability to assess results, problem solve and use independent judgment.
• Evaluates the request for diagnostic ultrasound services by utilizing equipment, operates techniques and procedures, perform services in accordance with the standard of practice to generate ultrasound images.
• Responsible for observing and communicating to obtain pertinent information for the physician to aid the diagnosis and treatment management of the patient.
• Provides patient education in the form of written materials and/or verbal communication explanation prior to or during the procedure to reduce patients’ anxiety and enhance comfort level with respect to tolerance of the procedure.
• Responsible for set-up and preparation of for procedure specific needs.
• Works closely with clinical support staff and physicians to achieve positive outcomes and optimal patient workflow.
• Monitors stock of supplies in imaging exam rooms to ensure their regular availability, timely reordering, and maintenance of a clean and orderly environment.
• Reports incidents of equipment failure and actively supports organizational safety.
• Performs job functions with excellent customer service and teamwork to provide the highest quality care to patients.

➢ Performs both essential and marginal job functions in a safe manner as identified by Saint Anthony Hospital and the respective department while adhering to the Hospital’s confidentiality norms and standards. General Job Requirements (List any required knowledge, skills, experiences, or training, including length of time necessary for proficiency, required to perform the job.)

• American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS certification)

• Strong anatomy and physiology background

• CPR Certification (BLS) through the American Heart Association

• Three years MFM sonography experience

• Excellent customer service, interpersonal skills, and telephone skills to perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies in performance of the essential functions of this position.
