Harborview's Intake and Brief interventions Clinic - Behavioral Health, has an outstanding opportunity for a Mental Health Practitioner position.

SCHEDULE
Full-Time, 40 hours / week (100% FTE) Day Shift.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides initial screenings and assessments for new patients seeking services.

  • As part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, works with patients and their social networks to assist in their recovery from mental illness.

  • Assesses patient needs and determines interventions.

  • Provides brief crisis interventions and brief therapy as applicable.

  • Participates in case reviews as appropriate.

  • Charts patients contact in the electronic health record in a timely manner per policy.

  • Collects data for evaluation and quality improvement as assigned.

  • Attends staff meetings as appropriate.

  • Assesses crises and determines interventions.

  • Coordinates medication services with team’s medical staff

  • Leads or co-leads groups as assigned.

  • Assists in the development and planning of groups relevant to the needs of clients.

  • Prepares information requested by outside agencies such as DSHS, Social Security Administration, and Seattle Housing Authority

  • Testify in judicial proceedings in response to subpoenas.


  • Under general supervision, the Mental Health Practitioner in the Intake and Brief Interventions Clinic provides initial screening and assessment of new patients as well as provides brief intervention services to assigned patients seeking behavioral health treatment.

    This position is responsible for implementing the goals of the program, which are to provide screening and intake services as well as short-term case management, brief therapy, crisis intervention, and referral to services to adults seeking services at HMHAS. The mental health practitioner will be expected to be able to work with a wide variety of patients and provide mental health and substance use disorder screening and treatment.

    REQUIREMENTS
  • A master’s degree in behavioral sciences, such as psychology, psychiatric nursing, occupational therapy, vocational or educational counseling, or social work OR Bachelor's Degree in nursing or a behavioral science AND three years' of experience in the direct delivery of professional mental health care.

  • Registration as either an 1) Agency Affiliated Counselor, 2) Licensed Social Work Associate -Advanced, or Licensed Social Work Associate - Independent Clinical, 3) Licensed Mental Health Counselor – Associate or Licensed Mental Health Counselor by the State of Washington within 30 days of employment

  • Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/ registration.


  • DESIRED
  • A master’s degree in behavioral sciences, such as psychology, psychiatric nursing, occupational therapy, vocational or educational counseling, or social work.

  • LICSW or LMHC

  • Fluency in Spanish.
