About the role:

We have a team of more than 700 experts, who know their stuff inside out. We use common sense more often than we use complex procedures. We develop Enterprise-class software in an atmosphere full of the English sense of humour. Currently, most of us are working remotely, but our office is open for those looking for professional space or those who just like sipping coffee at the office.

As a member of Mendix Academy, you will get paid to take part in a two-month online programme during which you will learn the basics of developing applications in Mendix. You will improve both your technical skills and soft skills - after a number of training courses with individual tasks, you will develop a small project together with other mentees under the guidance of experienced developers. Throughout the Mendix Academy, you will receive regular feedback on your progress during 1-1 meetings with one of the mentors.

Details:

  • Fixed term contract for 2 months
  • Salary: 5000 PLN gross per month
  • Working time: full time (40 hours per week)

After two months, participants that have successfully completed the programme will be able to join Objectivity as Junior Rapid Application Developer.


Mendix is a Rapid Development Platform designed to speed up the process of building mobile and web applications. This technology uses a graphical interface and ready-to-use tools & components to accelerate enterprise application delivery. Coding is limited to specific and untypical requirements not covered by out-of-the-shelf features. Thanks to using an extensive desktop-based visual app-modeling studio dedicated to professionals, you can build complex solutions much faster. The speed of delivery and capabilities of modern platforms make this technology more and more popular. Among our customers, we can observe a trend of choosing it over the classical development. We believe a significant part of software development will be based on low code platforms in the nearest future.

If you find rapid development easy, and if you think it is for everybody, you are partially right. The Mendix platform itself is intuitive and easy to learn. But software development is not limited to writing code or using tools. This academy is designed to show you what else you need to know in order to become a good rapid dev.

Your daily work:

  • Completing online training.
  • Participating in online workshops.
  • Completing individual tasks with the guidance of our mentors.
  • Completing a small project in SCRUM with the guidance of mentors.

We received an email from a client requesting us to develop an application and we'd like you to provide a solution to the following problem:

Dear Objectivity,

As a store, we would like to increase access to customers and open an online store. Right now we only operate stores in a few cities. Our customers have to drive to the store and place an order.Then our staff manually checks if the product is available, what the availability date will be and inform the customer.The customer pays for the order and then waits to hear when it will be available.When the order is available our employee calls to the customer and informs about the possibility to pick up the product.We would like to improve the whole process as much as it is possible. Our main goal is to make this process as efficient as possible so that our employees can focus on producing the products.

As part of the assignment, you should provide a PDF file that contains:

1. short description of the solution;
2. A list of the most important user stories/functionalities, which should be implemented in the scope of this project;
3. Database schema (i.e. entity-relationship model);
4. A mock-up of the selected screen (preferably the key screen of the application);
5. An algorithm describing the order process (might be in the form of a diagram or steps description);
6. List of improvements, innovations that we may propose to our customer.


Solution should be merged with CV in PDF file.
