We are currently seeking a Medical Recs Coding & Transc. Sr. Assoc. to join our team in Miami, Florida (US-FL), United States (US).
- Certified Medical Coder Job Summary: Medical coding specialists are responsible for correctly coding healthcare claims in order to obtain reimbursement from insurance company. Coders also review claims data to ensure that assigned diagnosis and CPT codes meet required medical necessity prior to submission. Analyze and resolve insurance denials and corresponds with insurance companies and healthcare professionals to resolve any issues.
Certified Medical Coder Requirements: - MUST HAVE completed a program leading to a Coding Certification
- an associate's degree in medical coding, health information technology or another closely related field.
- MUST HAVE a working knowledge and proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
- Be familiar and proficient in basic and advanced ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS coding, Medicare guidelines and compliance.
- Experience and knowledge of HCC Coding and Risk Adjustment experience a plus.
Medical Coder responsibilities and duties- Comply with all legal requirements regarding coding and insurance practices
- Collaborate with billing department to ensure all claims are submitted in a timely manner
- Query physicians and other health care professionals about questions on visits, documentation and procedures
- Stay current on coding education and maintain certification
- Abiding by strict HIPPA laws maintaining confidentiality
- Attend meetings and training as required
- Commitment to a high level customer service
- Performs other related work as required
