Intake Specialist/In-House Medical Biller

Location: Brentwood, Stockton, and Elk GROVE, CA. (In-person)

Compensation: $65,000 Annually

We are seeking a friendly, dedicated, detail-oriented Intake Specialist/In-House Medical Biller to add to our growing practice and billing team! This dynamic position includes verifying insurance, requesting authorizations, scheduling, and coordinating with insurance carriers. This position requires communicating with families so being friendly, compassionate, and outgoing is also needed. It requires the ability to work both independently and with others. The successful candidate must be punctual, reliable, and service-minded/patient-centric. The successful candidate must be highly organized and structured with consistent follow-through.

This position is considered full-time, Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. This is an opportunity for an individual to thrive as we grow.

General Duties

  • Checking eligibility and benefit verification for treatments and procedures.
  • Overseeing front office co-pay collection process.
  • Assisting Medical Biller in the practice.
  • Request and maintains authorizations for all scheduled visits.
  • Check each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with the contract discount.
  • Call insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments if needed.
  • Ensures remote biller Post charges into EMR in a timely fashion.
  • Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assists in coordinating with clients to ensure all outstanding bills are collected.
  • Ability to appropriately assign modifiers.
  • Oversee and ensure accurate and timely claim processing.
  • Updating patient's Co-pays and ongoing Verifications Of Benefits when needed.
  • Contact patients regarding eligibility issues.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Contact patients regarding eligibility issues.
  • Responds to accounting or billing inquiries from patients or management.
  • Provides monthly AR and Aging reports management.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations and Company policy and patient private health information (PHI).
  • Conducts all business in a professional manner always maintaining respect for individuals.
  • Complies with departmental and company-wide policies and procedures.
  • Meet or exceed required departmental productivity standards on a consistent basis.
  • Presents a positive, professional appearance and conveys a professional demeanor in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm and professional.
  • Utilizes EMR software Kareo/Tebra.

  • Duties and responsibilities may be added or changed at any time. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Job Qualifications

  • Education Level: High school diploma or equivalent. Associate’s degree preferred.

  • Experience: At least 3-5 years of job-related experience.
  • Experience with Kareo/Tebra EMR a requirement.
  • Education Level: High school diploma or equivalent. Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Experience Industry: Healthcare
  • CPC or CCS Certifications preferred.
