Stanford University is seeking a Manager of Video Production and Editing to develop and execute video production assignments requiring advanced level skills from original concept through final implementation. This role will play an important role in strengthening and advancing Stanford Medicine’s brand and reputation through storytelling that is delivered to internal and external audiences and serve as an in-house video production expert with time contribution split between project management and as a technical contributor.

Duties include:

  • Create and oversee the creation of original visual content and produce high impact visual storytelling. Manage process from conception, to production, to completion across a diverse array of communications channels and media utilizing best practice standards that foster photographic and video excellence.
  • Take independent ownership of complex video production projects. Perform the full range of the project cycle: initiating, planning, producing, refinement, delivery, and archiving.
  • Produce compelling content and develop an annual editorial plan and publishing schedule for various projects.
  • Plan, advise and partner with clients and leaders on strategic and creative projects requiring extensive subject matter knowledge within time and cost constraints.
  • Provide support in all aspects of video production (pre-production, production and postproduction) including, but not limited to, planning, coordinating, set-up, filming, editing and/or directs the editing of recorded video, audio, and other materials to meet time, aesthetic, and quality standards.
  • Performs video post-production tasks which includes reviewing footage, making editorial decisions, video transcoding, rough cuts, audio adjustment, color correction, and final editing; utilizes computer graphics and special effects for video post-production in accordance with the overall production concepts; compresses video projects for output; captures recorded video using software and encode media as appropriate; makes video products available in a variety of formats including streaming media files.
  • May be responsible for producing remote multi-camera programs, supervising field crews and managing technical aspects and overall approach for productions.
  • Evaluate and establish relationships with video production/ creative firms, when external expertise is required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

  • Expert level technical experience using video equipment, video creation, editing software, and/or digital media control software.
  • Comprehensive knowledge in production techniques including videography, compression and file delivery and other production formats.
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of professional quality productions, including field and studio camera, lighting, sound and editing,
  • Proven savvy and understanding of online video environment and online distribution.
  • Ability to independently manage a variety of simultaneous projects within tight deadlines, excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and training others.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, mature judgment, and diplomacy required to interact effectively with and provide customer service to a broad audience, including high-level executives and faculty.
  • Ability to work independently as well as effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience planning, coordinating, and executing archival projects.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently stand/walk, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, and reach/work above shoulders.
  • Occasionally sit, twist/bend/stoop/squat.
  • Visual acuity including color vision.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a California Non-commercial Class license.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Occasional work on weekends, evenings, holidays, and flexible shifts.
  • May have exposure to high voltage electricity, noise > 80dB TWA, confined spaces, and working at heights above 10 feet.

The expected pay range for this position is $70,000.00 to $102,000.00 per annum.
Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
