Primary Responsibilities:
The Manager, Logistics and Supply Operations, reports to the Vice President for Public Safety (or designee), and oversees and manages the enterprise-wide Johns Hopkins Public Safety logistics and supply program, including the procurement, assignment, tracking, maintenance, and replacement of all vehicles, uniforms, equipment and supplies. Provides support to all Johns Hopkins campuses, hospitals, and other locations to ensure 24/7 public safety and security operations have the necessary equipment and resources needed to function efficiently and effectively 24/7. Makes recommendations to the Public Safety leadership team for projects, equipment replacement, procurement, and other requirements as identified. Essential responsibilities include:

Manage the design, procurement, ordering, fitting, distribution, and replacement of uniforms for over 1,100 public safety officers and supervisors.
Oversee vehicle/fleet management of all public safety vehicles, including vehicle replacement, maintenance, outfitting with equipment, and the vehicle check-out process.
Coordinate with the Training Division on training initiatives that impact logistics/supplies, such as driver training and equipment usage.
Maintain, assign, and replace portable and mobile radios.
Manage all design, specifications, ordering, assignment, and replacement of public safety equipment, including but not limited to bulletproof vests, gloves, OC spray, batons, masks, and handcuffs.
Maintains 24/7 callback availability as needed for emergency situations.
Maintains and oversees supply inventory and warehousing of materials, uniforms and equipment.
Coordinate with JHHS Corporate Supply Chain and JHU Office of Procurement Services on procurement projects, vendor relations, and other matters as they impact Johns Hopkins Public Safety.
Coordinates with all university campus and hospital public safety directors to understand and anticipate needs and to address emerging issues with existing and new resources.
Maintains an awareness of trends in the public safety organization that may impact procurement needs.

Additional responsibilities include:
The development, administration, and monthly variance reporting of the department budget and receiving necessary approvals
Monitoring and optimizing departmental labor productivity based on the benchmarks, targets and tools available
Oversight of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare (JCAHO) compliance and service level mandated improvements within assigned areas of responsibility
Development, implementation and enforcement of departmental and JHHS Corporate Supply Chain policies and procedures. The incumbent must interpret and communicate hospital and JHHS Corporate Supply Chain policies, objectives, and operational procedures to department employees. He/she must resolve operational problems concerning items such as: staffing, utilization of hospital facilities, equipment and supplies and interdepartmental communications
Monitoring and enforcing hospital and JHHS education/training policies, assessing employee skills, establishing channels for encouraging employee development and growth, i.e., expansion of their competencies and accountabilities
Developing annual departmental objectives, which will facilitate the implementation of the hospital's strategic plan. Assisting in short or long range planning by serving on committees, task forces or teams with other hospital staff
Coordinating the hospital Product Safety Recall Program and assuring that the hospital is following Federal Guidelines and that the reports are made to the appropriate Federal agency, when required

Education and Work Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in supply chain, public administration, criminal justice, or a related public safety or management field is preferred, or comparable experience and training to sufficiently meet the competencies. High school diploma or equivalent required.
At least 5 years of experience managing uniforms, supplies, vehicles and equipment in a law enforcement/public safety operations.
Security and or law enforecement experience is preferred.
