Maintenance Technician

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the production equipment and plant facility conscientiously and reliably, consistent with Company standards. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience in developing and managing Maintenance systems and activities to ensure excellent food-safe products while maximizing equipment uptime. Will ensure compliance to company policies, safety standards, federal and state environmental standards, and regulations and drive industry best practices, including PM and Environmental programs. This position is a direct report to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Startup and operate production machinery and equipment.

· Respond promptly to calls at the production lines.

· Participation in facility maintenance and preventive maintenance programs

· Follow all safety procedures and participate in safety training. Maintain safe and efficient use of equipment, tools, and person. Report any injury or accident immediately to supervisory and any unsafe condition

· Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines

· Diagnose problems, repair, and achieve root cause analysis.

· Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities

· Perform a variety of preventative maintenance on machine parts, pumps, motors, pneumatic, hydraulic systems, and related plant and facility equipment

· Rebuild and fabricate parts

Essential Job Functions:

· Completes work orders and responds to maintenance calls on time

· Inventories spare parts and reports usage; suggests re-orders to Manager

· Performs basic repairs within office facility on furniture, HVAC, lighting, and other systems within the facility

· Maintains neat and orderly work area; properly maintains tools

· Troubleshooting identifying worn parts & rebuilding machine assemblies, pumps, meters, valves, valve actuators, and other equipment

· Basic understanding of Root Cause Analysis

Skills | Knowledge | Abilities:

· Mechanical / Electrical skills.

· Able to read Wire Diagrams, Schematic, and Logic Ladder

· Self-motivated, confident, energetic and possess the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.

· Technically oriented, comfortable around machinery and plant environment

· Can effectively communicate verbally and written with individuals at all levels of the organization and outside of the organization.

· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

· Ability to work well under pressure with multiple projects and deadlines

Physical Requirements:

· Work involves daily exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, darkness, and noise. Seasonal exposure to weather elements include, but is not limited to, extreme temperatures, wetness, and humidity

· Work environment involves daily exposure to physical risks such as working around mechanical equipment, forklifts, chemical hazards, and electrical hazards

· Position requires the daily ability to stand, sitting at a desk, walking around the office and plant, carrying packages up to 75 pounds, utilizing fine dexterity, reaching and kneeling daily. Requires the ability to see, hear and communicate with associates as well as others by using professional etiquette

· Ability to work at heights 20 feet or higher

Required Education/Experience:

· Level I Technician

o High school diploma or equivalent

o Must have entry-level experience in some electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance.

o Must have basic troubleshooting and repairability

o Must have 0 – 2 years of related mechanical work experience

· Level II Technician

o High school diploma or equivalent

o Must have knowledge and experience with PLC

o Must have intermediate-level experience in electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance.

o Must have intermediate troubleshooting and repairability

o Must have 2 – 4 years of related mechanical work experience

· Level III Technician

o High school diploma or equivalent, college degree, or certification preferred

o Must have advanced knowledge of PLC and Motor Control Circuits

o Must have excellent communication skills to work with suppliers and vendors.

o Must have advanced level experience in electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance.

o Must have advanced troubleshooting and repairability

o Must have 5 + years of related mechanical work experience

· Spanish/English fluency (oral and written) a plus
