About the Role

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe environment for both our employees and residents. The Maintenance Technician will ensure all general maintenance tasks and repairs in our facility are conducted timely. The position also required to be available as needed during an emergency or disaster.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform general plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and a/c and heating maintenance tasks
  • Maintain heating and plumbing systems to ensure functionally
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks which may include replacing light bulbs, ac filters, cleaning up spills, grounds upkeep, etc.
  • Inspect alarm systems and quickly schedule repairs as needed
  • Complete faciality event requests which may include setting up tables, chairs, moving furniture, break down, etc.
  • Work closely with other team members of the maintenance department to ensure all maintenance requests have been completed and priority requests are completed before end of business day
  • Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel, and follow safety protocol
  • Perform safety checks to ensure building is consistent with health and safety hazards
  • Assist with delivering resident packages as needed
  • Assist with preparing for a natural disaster
  • Keep maintenance shop clean and orderly
  • Able to work on a weekend rotating and on call schedule
  • Perform other assigned tasks as directed by supervisors

  • Advanced understanding of general maintenance processes and methods
  • Working knowledge of maintenance tools, common appliances, electrical devices, etc.
  • Must be able to speak, read and understand verbal and written instructions in English; and must be able to be understood clearly and easily by residents as English is the prevailing language at Holly Hall Retirement Community.
  • Must be able to work in or outdoors during extreme hot, cold, or rainy days
  • Must have manual dexterity, problem solving skills, and be able to follow written instructions
  • High School diploma or equivalent with special training in building maintenance
  • Certification in HVAC preferred
  • Minimum two years’ experience in A/C and heating routine maintenance and repairs
  • Minimum of five years of general maintenance
  • Must be physical able to stand, walk, bend, reach, pull, and capable of lifting 50 pounds or more
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be tactful and patient in dealing with residents
