POSITION PURPOSE

The Maintenance Scheduler is a critical role in the Production Organization that coordinates the production requirements with Maintenance and Engineering organizations’ activities. The role owns the Asset Care Scheduling process. They need to understand the desires of the production schedule and the windows for maintenance and capital activities to occur. The Maintenance Scheduler needs to understand the production organization job steps (decommissioning, lockout, and commissioning) plus the maintenance and capital work execution steps to ensure integration to minimize cost and production downtime.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand production goals and equipment downtime goals in order to prioritize maintenance tasks to the site’s maintenance group while limiting disruptions in the plant’s production schedule
  • Lead the integration of the Work Management Process (WMP) into the production, maintenance, and engineering cultures
  • Review and ensure that work orders and notifications are being written properly
  • Prioritizes work orders
  • Validate current production windows for maintenance and engineering activities in order to minimize downtime
  • Work closely with the Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Supervisor, Operations Supervisor and Engineers (Capital) to align on the scope of work and scheduling of maintenance activities
  • Responsible for developing and communicating the maintenance work schedule to the site.
  • Weekly creates horizon schedules with the Maintenance Planner for work one, two and three weeks out
  • Communicate maintenance and engineering activities to production organization to ensure proper preparedness (rate reduction, decontamination, lockout, etc.)
  • Verify equipment readiness before deployment of maintenance resources on day of scheduled work execution
  • Validate acceptable completion of maintenance/engineering activities. Collects options, facilitates compromised solution discussion when activities fail to restore the asset appropriately
  • Review work order and ensure authorization of additional costs as needed to TECO (Technical Completion) work orders
  • Field check jobs for satisfactory completion. Stay informed on work completed overnight or on weekends and ensure those jobs are captured in SAP
  • Create follow-up Notification for new scopes of work (if required)
  • Work with the Maintenance Planner and other maintenance and/or technical representatives to identify and stage materials needed to complete maintenance activities
  • Oversee/Participate in the entire Work Management Process (WMP) of bringing a maintenance notification to a Ready to Schedule (RTS) status
  • Provides input on Master Data improvements
  • Present options to schedule maintenance activities that have a recent notification but are of high priority or have a notification but are not Ready to Schedule (RTS)
  • Lead daily and weekly horizon meetings with site personnel to discuss work order completion and upcoming work orders that need to be completed
  • Assume the responsibilities of the Maintenance Planner when the planner is not onsite
  • Assume additional responsibilities related to the site’s Work Management Process (WMP) based on plant needs
  • Work overtime and weekend shifts when needed

WORK ENVIRONMENT


  • Must be able to work outside of the scheduled work week, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed based on plant and/or business needs
  • Must be able and available on-site during plant shutdowns/ start-ups, plant commissioning and decommissioning activities, and other operational events, planned and unplanned, when required.

Qualifications


Education / Experience / Background

  • Minimum 3-5 year experience in industrial manufacturing environment
  • Accountable for safety of self and others, works to advance all Core Values
  • High proficiency in Microsoft applications ( Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • High proficiency in Google Suites applications ( Sheets, Docs, Slides)
  • Knowledge of practices, procedures, equipment and materials related to the operation and maintenance of Burnside.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with vendors and fellow employees including peers, technical and supervision.
  • Must have ability to effectively self-manage, handle competing priorities and be organized.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team

Knowledge / Skill / Abilities


  • High proficiency in Google Suites applications ( Sheets, Docs, Slides)
  • Knowledge of practices, procedures, equipment and materials related to the operation and maintenance of Burnside.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with vendors and fellow employees including peers, technical and supervision.
  • Must have ability to effectively self-manage, handle competing priorities and be organized.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering standards, blueprints, P&IDs, equipment and design drawings, and interpreting vendor information (ex. quotes, specifications).
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • Demonstrated ability or knowledge in the following:
    • Estimating priority of completion of work notifications
    • Estimating cost and length of maintenance jobs.
    • PSM Management of Change procedures and paperwork (ex. PCRs)
    • Suppliers of equipment, materials, and services.
  • Prior experience with plant maintenance and operations Field contractor administration execution (i.e. understanding contractor scope and ensuring work is completed per scope, working through issues with the contractor, etc…)

Physical Requirements


  • Must be able to lift 40lbs., climb ladders and stairs
  • Walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, squatting, stooping is required
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (including the use of a respirator)
  • Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms
  • Ability to regularly work in and be exposed to outside weather elements
