Summary
The role of the Maintenance Planner / Buyer is to provide tactical purchasing support for the Osceola, AR and Ripley, TN facilities. Evaluates supplier performance and manages the plan to address the areas of deficiency. Sourcing responsibilities include capital equipment, MRO, office supply and plant services. Total “Buy” responsibility can approach 10M annually.

Job Duties include:
Is responsible for purchasing maintenance replacement items. This included researching new or replacement mechanical/electrical parts for a wide assortment of production & facility related equipment.
  • Responsible for qualifying new vendors and evaluating new materials and equipment.
  • Acts as purchasing liaison for the management team as a subject matter expert in systems such as Direct Order, MRP, MP2 and e-payables.
  • Works with Global Sourcing as necessary to support projects and requests.
  • Will draft purchasing and supply agreements and Sheppard this document through the legal review and acceptance criteria.
  • Works with the accounts payable staff and vendors to reconcile discrepancies in purchase orders, pricing, terms and/or conditions of agreement.
  • Partnership with the staff responsible for the tool crib and schedulers. This includes 2 schedulers and 2 tool crib attendants.
  • Must stay abreast of current products, equipment and technologies in order to ensure the best product is being ordered at the best price.
  • Responsible for managerial tasks that include goal setting, performance evaluations, training and policy enforcement.

Experience Required:

3 – 7 years in a purchasing, planning or related supply chain position

  • Proficient in purchasing processes and procedures including obsolete or replacement parts.
  • General knowledge in mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and other production/distribution/facility parts.
  • Proficiency with spread sheeting applications and related analytical systems.
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal and written.
  • Knowledgeable in providing employee development, recognition, delegation and guidance.
  • Knowledgeable in planning and scheduling processes.

Education Required:

High School Diploma required
BS degree in related field preferred

Purchasing Certification preferred

Maintenance background required
